We are having another contest starting TODAY November 9. Judging will be done the morning of Friday, November 18.

Most of you like the month of November because of Thanksgiving Break - A whole week off!!
While it is nice to have a break, it is important to remember that November is a time when we reflect on things for which we are grateful.

6. Gratitude Why is it important to show gratitude?
A study done by UC Berkeley has shown that people who express gratitude regularly have:
Psychological
• Higher levels of positive emotions
• More alert, alive, and awake
• More joy and pleasure
• More optimism and happiness
Social
• More helpful, generous, and compassionate
• More forgiving
• More outgoing
• Feel less lonely and isolated
Physical
• Stronger immune systems
• Less bothered by aches and pains
• Lower blood pressure
• Exercise more and take better care of their health
• Sleep longer and feel more refreshed upon waking

8. But what is Veteran’s Day?
This Friday, there is no school in honor of Veteran’s Day.

9. The next year, November 11th was named Armistice Day.
During WWI, a temporary end of the fighting was called on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11:00, November 11).
The next year, November 11th was named Armistice Day.
After WWII and the Korean War, it was renamed Veterans day in honor of ALL American veterans of war.

Memorial Day is in honor of servicemembers who have died while serving or as a result of injuries they received while serving their country.
Veterans Day is in honor of ALL service members, living or deceased.
