History Of Computing Chloe Sculli

The history of computing
"Who invented the computer?" is not a question with a simple answer. The real answer is that many inventors contributed to the history of computers and that a computer is a complex piece of machinery made up of many parts, each of which can be considered a separate invention.

APPLE HISTORY

Apple The first home computer with a GUI or graphical user interface was the Apple Lisa. The very first graphical user interface was developed by the ‘Xerox Corporation’ at their Palo Alto Research Centre, in the 1970s. Steve Jobs, visited PARC in 1979, and was impressed and influenced by the Xerox Alto, the first computer ever with a graphical user interface. Jobs designed the new Apple Lisa based on the technology he saw at Xerox. And that's where Apple Inc began.

INTELS HISTORY

Intel In 1968, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore were two unhappy engineers working for the Fairchild Semiconductor Company who decided to quit and create their own company at a time when many Fairchild employees were leaving to create start-ups. People like Noyce and Moore were nicknamed the "Fairchildren". Rock raised $2.5 million dollars in less than 2 days by selling convertible debentures. Art Rock became the first chairmen of Intel.

MICROSOFT HISTORY

Microsoft It’s the 1970s. At work, we relied on typewriters. If we need to copy a document, we likely use a mimeograph or carbon paper. Few have heard of microcomputers, but two young computer enthusiasts, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, see that personal computing is a path to the future. In 1975, Gates and Allen formed a partnership called Microsoft. Like most start-ups, Microsoft begins small, but has a huge vision a computer on every desktop and in every home. During the next years, Microsoft begins to change the ways we work. In June 1980, Gates and Allen hire Gates’ former Harvard classmate Steve Ballmer to help run the company. The next month, IBM approaches Microsoft about a project code-named "Chess." In response, Microsoft focuses on a new operating system—the software that manages, or runs, the computer hardware and also serves to bridge the gap between the computer hardware and programs, such as a word processor. It’s the foundation on which computer programs can run. They name their new operating system "MS‑DOS."
