1 SHOW….don’t tell In your personal narrative about a MEMORY YOU WILL NEVER FORGET, use your helpful handouts to SHOW me what happened and how you felt or what you were thinking. Also, take out the following handouts from your LAN: •        Vivid Verbs •        Sensory Words •        Falcon Claws •        Words Instead of Said  Use FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE in your essay, like specific details, sensory language (what it smelled, tasted, looked, sounded, felt like!), similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, personification, hyperbole, etc. to enhance your writing. Write about your incident in SEQUENTIAL ORDER! Include the THOUGHTS and FEELINGS of the people involved—especially yours!! Come up with a HOOK for your lead that makes me want to read your essay!! Start some of your sentences with transition words or phrases, prepositional phrases, or subordinating conjunctions to add interest! Make sure to REFLECT in your conclusion. Answer why this experience was memorable and why you will never forget it. How have you or has your life changed because of it?
