Imagery - appeals to at least one of the five senses Simile - a comparison of two things using “like” or “as” Ex: My daughter acts like a clown. Metaphor - a comparison of two things not using “like or as” Ex: My daughter is a clown.

3 Figurative Language Project (2 parts, 2 grades!)
Fill out the figurative language chart You must find one example of each from the story. In the third column, describe how the author’s choice of words made you feel or what it made you think about. In the last column, describe why you think the author chose those words to describe the situation. How does it help explain or develop the message, theme, or moral? Illustration Choose one example of figurative language you found and illustrate it. Neatly write the title of the story, author’s name, quotation, and page number of the quotation on the front of the illustration Everything that is mentioned in the quotation must be included in your illustration. You must include color. Illustrations should be on a normal piece of paper (like this) Be creative, do not worry so much about perfect drawings (you all know my stick figures!)
