Be as clear as possible! Ensure the reader knows exactly what you will be talking about in your body paragraphs.
Avoid vague, abstract words: get right to the point of what you will be discussing. Make specific references to your paper in particular.
Think: why does this matter? Why should the reader want to read my paper?

Strong thesis: Due to intense demands at school, pressure to participate in extracurricular activities, and frequent arguments among friends, being a teenager in today’s society is often a challenge.
Weak thesis: The Harry Potter book series is more enjoyable than the movies.
Strong thesis: Due to J.K. Rowling’s vivid imagery, strong characterization, and ability to craft suspense, the Harry Potter books are better crafted than the less-detailed films.
