1 AmeriCorps Promise Fellows

2 Across Minnesota, over 200 AmeriCorps Promise Fellows devote a term of service to narrowing the opportunity and achievement gaps — one young person at a time.

3 AmeriCorps AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects over 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, health, and homeland security.

4 Minnesota Alliance With Youth
Promise Fellows are AmeriCorps members in Minnesota that serve with Minnesota Alliance With Youth. Each Promise Fellow is placed at a school or community organization, where they serve 1720 hours over the course of an 11 month term of service.

5 Who do Promise Fellows serve?
YOUTH! Promise Fellows each work with a “focus list” of at least 30 youth in grades 6-12 in schools and community organizations. “Focus list” youth are identified by the ABCs: Attendance (high number of school absences or tardies) Behavior (self-reported student engagement), and Course Performance (work completion in concerning courses).

6 What do Promise Fellows do?
AmeriCorps Promise Fellows help ensure youth success by connecting young people to caring adults, service and service-learning opportunities, and out of school supports.

7 Caring Adults Promise Fellows increase the number of significant, caring adult relationships experienced by youth. Depending on existing structures and programs in a given school or community, a Promise Fellow will create or strengthen opportunities where the Fellows themselves, or other adult volunteers, provide mentoring, academic enrichment, project-based learning, or career advising.

8 Out of School Supports Promise Fellows and adult volunteers work to ensure that youth are involved in high- quality and engaging activities during out-of-school time. Activities may include after school clubs, extracurricular activities or after-school tutoring opportunities.

9 Service and Service Learning
Promise Fellows engage youth in meaningful service and service-learning activities. Promise Fellows strengthen in-school service-learning programs, community service clubs, or events for National Days of Service.

10 AmeriCorps Promise Fellows assist youth in reaching their full potential and set them on a trajectory for high school graduation and lifelong success!
