Outliers #1 Extra Credit

Claim Outliers is a story of success, but Gladwell gives insight on some theories about how to be successful, like birthdate, birthplace, the family tree, age, practice, etc. and shows the diversity in other cultures definition of success.

Purpose I feel as if Gladwell’s Purpose in writing outliers was to inform the public and his readers, that success comes in various different ways and in various different sizes, Success does not mean filthy rich.

Prologue -The Mystery of Roseto
Right outside of Bangor PA was a small Italian immigrant town named Roseto, The town had the fewest counts of heart disease scientists have seen. Studies and theories were put to test and they found out they were healthier due to family relations/family tree.

Chapter 1 Chapter 1 starts off with Gladwell Explaining the Canadian hockey league and the players it houses. Throughout the chapter Gladwell explains hockey players are really only successful if the have a certain birthdate/birthplace, and also their experience playing hockey.

Chapter 2 Gladwell opens this Chapter with the story of the young Billy Joy, and how he became such a successful Technology based person. Gladwell explains the 10,000 hour rule in this chapter, and relates that to billy joy and why he is so successful.
