It also covers the use of the intensifier ‘very’ and introduces the four seasons. Ideas for displaying PowerPoint. (You must display PPT full screen or pop-up dialogue boxes will not be active) Screen 1 Introduction. Ask students about the pictures. What’s the weather like today? Do they like the British weather? Screen 2 Ask students what’s happening in the photographs and what the weather is like. Click to display spellings (point out the double ‘n’ in sunny). Screens 3 Use to practice dialogue in pairs or small groups. Screens 4. Ask students what is displayed (a thermometer) and what the temperature is. Click to display answers and discuss Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Proceed slowly through rest of slide – stopping after each arrow appears to ask student what the weather/temperature is like. Check that all understand meaning of intensifier ‘very’ by using other examples as needed. Screen 5. Names and spellings of the seasons. Point out that they are not normally capitalised (but months and days of the week are). Screen 6 Further useful links for extension work (sound needed for links 1 and 2)
