Auburn University 2018 Job Family Promotion Process and Steps for HRLs March 1, 2018

2 Job Family Promotion - Eligibility
Employees being considered for promotion must meet each of the following criteria: “Eligibility threshold” of the length of time at current level within the job family series, AND the “Eligibility threshold” of the completion of development requirements for the next higher level within the family, and their supervisor’s performance development expectations, AND the “Validation of warranted promotion” through the demonstration of the higher level duties, responsibilities, and accountability, as specified in their job descriptions.

3 Job Family Promotion – HRL Process
As HR Liaisons, please complete the following steps: Verify and validate employees’ eligibility for promotion, Review and validate promotional justifications, Summarize the requests on a tracking spreadsheet provided for your department, Make copy of request for departmental use, completed spreadsheet to Julie Lin and or send originals to Central HR by the deadline.

4 Job Family Promotion – Items to Remember
Validating date entered into position (effective date vs begin date) Please ensure all supervisors are aware of the job family promotion process Many calls have come to Compensation enquiring how to be considered for promotion – Compensation directs employees to HRLs.

5 Job Family Promotion - Timeline
JFP information ed to HRLs February 21st JFP information ed to Deans, Department Heads, and Directors February 22nd JFPs due to HRL - March 23rd JFP due to Central HR – April 4th
