1 Unit 4 Labo-langue Partitive articles Regular -er verbs Negative forms
Aimer + infinitive, je voudrais + infinitive

2 Partitive articles Unit 4: Labo-langue
You have to use du, de la, de l’ or des in front of food items. In English, you would say ‘some’. singular plural masculine un/le du chocolat des/les des gâteaux feminine une/la de la soupe des chips Use de l’ for a singular word starting with a vowel: de l’eau. © Oxford University Press 2014

3 Regular -er verbs Unit 4: Labo-langue
Verbs that end in -er are regular; they all follow the same pattern. They include aimer (to like, to love), adorer (to love), détester (to hate), jouer (to play), habiter (to live). The only exception is aller, which is irregular. To form the present tense, remove the -er and add the following endings: aimer j’aime nous aimons tu aimes vous aimez il/elle/on aime ils/elles aiment © Oxford University Press 2014

4 Negative forms Unit 4: Labo-langue
To make a sentence negative, put ne ... pas (or n’ ... pas) around the verb: je mange  je ne mange pas j’aime  je n’aime pas A verb in the negative form is normally followed by de: Je mange du fromage, mais je ne mange pas de yaourt. I eat cheese but I do not eat yoghurt. Ne ... jamais means ‘never’: Je ne mange jamais de frites. I never eat chips. The exception to the de rule is aimer. When talking about likes and dislikes, use le, la, l’, les in front of the noun: J’aime le fromage, mais je n’aime pas le yaourt. I like cheese but I don’t like yoghurt. © Oxford University Press 2014

5 Aimer + infinitive, je voudrais + infinitive
Unit 4: Labo-langue Aimer + infinitive, je voudrais + infinitive When you talk about what you like or dislike doing, or what you would like to do, you use the infinitive form for the second verb.
