Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

2 General Information: Occupied by the U.K. in 1841.
Hong Kong was formally ceded by China in 1842. December 19, China and U.K. signed agreement. July 1, Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region or S.A.R.

3 China has promised that Hong Kong will experience freedom from the socialist economic system for the next 50 years. China and Hong Kong are one country with two systems.

4 Location: Absolute: 22*-15* North Latitude, and 114*-10* East Longitude. Relative: Eastern Asia, bordering the South China Sea and China.

6 Place: Area Comparative: Six times as big as Washington D.C. Climate:
Tropical monsoon. Cool and humid in the winter. Hot and rainy from spring through summer. Warm and sunny in the fall. More than 200 separate islands!!!!!
