2 How is the mathematics department supporting students
Three year KS4 enables early finish of teaching the curriculum content – more time for focussed revision Majority (sets 1 to 6) are taught Higher Tier and rest are taught Foundation Tier. Exam tier entry is decided much later (finalised after second mock in March) Students provided with specific support prior to each cumulative test (list of topics, revision material and exam style guidance) Detailed question level analysis of unit tests through self-reflection sheet Individualised ‘Even Better If’ homework focused on identified ‘Red’ areas in the test Access to online resources (such as MathsWatch, PiXL MathsApp, Corbett Maths to support focused revision)

3 How is the mathematics department supporting students
Maths Clinic – runs every lunchtime (Maths Office) Maths Intervention (by invitation only for targeted students): Form Time (Mon, Thu , Fri) ‘Period 0’ – 8.00am to 8.30am (Tue and Thu) ‘Period 4.5’ – 1.15pm to 1.45pm (Tue and Thu) ‘Pizza Sunday’- whole day revision session prior to the first exam Predicted exam paper 3 and revision list provided after papers 1 and 2 have been done. 13 November 2018

Sample exam papers provided to support in- class and home revision Detailed question level analysis Students use the online resources to work on personalised areas for development 13 November 2018

8 How you can help at home Support students to plan when and where the revision will be done “The only way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics” Set aside minutes, four times a week to some Mathematics (short sharp bursts) Use the gap analysis tools (either from test analyses or PiXL MathsApp) to prioritise specific areas to focus on Encourage the use of flash cards or mindmaps as reminders of weak areas 13 November 2018

9 How you can help at home When stuck, encourage your daughter to use the video and powerpoint therapy materials on PiXL MathsApp and/or MathsWatch VLE Sit with them when watching the video resources; this surprisingly helps! Check their planner and Show My Homework to ensure your daughter has completed the set homework Agree a time when your daughter will see her teacher about any unclear ideas; revisit this later on her return 13 November 2018
