3 Punctuality! Students MUST arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of each examination ALL morning exams will begin at 8:45am Afternoon exams split between 1:00pm and 1:30pm start Students must arrive on time, and in correct school uniform – nothing worse then a rushing around before the exam. Time is needed to put bags, coats, valuables etc in lockers Late arrival runs the risk of scoring zero

16 Revision Tips Re-read literature texts – ‘Of Mice and Men’ and ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ Re-read poetry cluster; either ‘conflict’ or ‘relationships’ Continue to read non-fiction texts such as broadsheet newspapers, articles, magazines, travel writing and biographical works. Find a quiet place to study Do a little, but often!

18 Science All students will be sitting two sets of science exams in the summer Mainstream: Core Science and Additional Science Fast Track: Additional Science and Further Additional Science (They sat their Core Science exams in year 9) Core Science, Additional Science and Further Additional Science exams will consist of: 3 exams (biology, chemistry and physics) all worth 25% each. These, as well as the controlled assessed task, are added together and a final grade is awarded. The Papers: Will be 60 mins long and worth 60 marks (1 mark per minute). Each paper will consist of two 6 mark questions, which must have clear written communication. Revision: Past papers are available at Edexcel online. Core Science are B1, C1 and P1; Additional science are B2, C2 and P2 papers; Further Additional Science are B3, C3 and P3 papers. SAM learning is a brilliant resource to help improve subject knowledge. Lots of revision guides are available to buy, just make sure they cover the Edexcel course We encourage students to ask us questions. We have an open door policy and want to answer revision based questions.

19 Exam Board: AQA Religious Studies Specification B (4055) – 100% examination Religion and Life Issues (40552) – 1 hr 30 minute exam, 18 th May (PM) Students must answer questions on 4 out of 6 topics: 1. Animal Rights 2. Prejudice and Discrimination 3. War and Peace 4. Early Life Religion and Morality (40553) – 1 hr 30 minute exam, 23 rd May (PM) Students must answer questions on 4 out of 6 topics: 1. Medical Ethics 2. World Poverty 3. Poverty in Britain 4. Crime and Punishment 5. Attitudes towards death and the elderly Revision materials have been provided for students free of charge. These are also available on the VLE and on Show My Homework. Students should be revising for about half an hour a week and practising exam questions. These are available in their revision guides and on the VLE. Some students have been invited to targeted revision sessions – these students have received letters home informing them of the date/time of these sessions. These sessions will run up until the exam. If any other students also wish to attend revision sessions after school the dates of the sessions are included on their revision guides.
