1 NARAL Pro-choice America

2 How do they protect the right to choose, exactly?
About NARAL They are made up of pro-choice women and men across the United States. Together, they protect a woman's right to choose. How do they protect the right to choose, exactly? They lobby Congress to convince your elected representatives to support your right to choose. They organize women and men to make sure that lawmakers hear from the pro-choice people they represent. They connect what happens in Congress or in the states to how it affects your ability to make private decisions, like choosing legal abortion. They work with our state affiliates to advance ideas that are good for women's freedom. They fight back against the bad ideas that threaten our privacy. NARAL Pro-Choice America uses the political process to elect lawmakers who share our pro-choice values and defeat candidates who don't. Fortune Magazine has described NARAL Pro-Choice America as "one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America."

3 What is choice? Abortion
The Supreme Court legalized abortion with its decision in Roe v. Wade in Anti-choice groups have been attacking the right to choose ever since. Their ultimate goal is to outlaw abortion again. Birth Control Want to reduce the need for abortion? Making birth control available to all women is one of the best ways to do it. Unfortunately, many women don’t have good access to birth control. Sex Education Our teens deserve sex education that gives them the information they need to make good decisions for themselves. They need to learn about both abstinence and birth control. But too many teens don’t receive this in their education. Healthy Pregnancies Women who decide to carry their pregnancies to term should get all the support they need to have healthy pregnancies. They also should have access to information about adoption.

4 Electing Pro-choice leaders
A pro-choice president sits in the White House. How did NARAL make this happen? In May 2008, NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC become the first major pro-choice PAC to endorse Barack Obama for president. They identified pro-choice voters, including pro-choice Independent and Republican women, and urged them to support President Obama and pro-choice congressional candidates. They reached nearly 300,000 households in eight important states-- Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. They persuaded these voters to vote pro-choice because having pro-choice leaders in charge would make a positive difference in their lives.
