Technology has aided the diagnosis of disease with CAT scans, MRI scans, echo cardio scans and edoscopes all of which gave doctors images of what is going on inside the body without the need to cut people open. The discovery and growing understanding of DNA since 1953 has enhanced understanding of how the body works and how to make it better when not functioning properly. Since the creation of the NHS in 1948 the growth in what medicine can do has been match and even exceeded by demand. What problems has improved technology and increased demand led to? Good learning: Understand the developments in surgery in the C20th Great learning: Explain the role technology and war had in driving change Even better: Evaluate whether war or technology had the biggest impact
