3 Graduation Requirements
English – 4 Credits Math -4 Credits Science – 3 Credits Social Studies – 3 Credits World Language – 1 Credit Computer Education – 0.5 Credit Physical Education – 1 Credit Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts – 1 Credit Electives – 11 Credits Total credits required for graduation = 27.5 Graduation Requirement modifications available. See MHS Student Handbook for more information about a Personal Curriculum.

4 9th Grade Required Classes
Freshman English A & B Math – Either Algebra 1a, 1b, 1c OR Geometry A & B Science – Choose 2 from the following: Earth Science A, Biology A, Chemistry A, or Physics A (Physics has a prereq of Alg 1) US History A & B Intro to PE Suggested electives: World Language (required to take second level if first level completed in 8th grade) Computer requirement

5 9th Grade Scheduling Process
Meet with 8th grade students Tuesday and Thursday. Students will receive scheduling information and class request form on Thursday. Students will submit forms WITH PARENT SIGNATURE to their Social Studies teacher no later than Thursday, April 26th. High school counselors will input requests based on priority/availability Schedules are generated and counselors will fix errors Student schedules may be viewed in Skyward when completed Schedule change policy: Request must be submitted to counselor two weeks before the trimester begins Requested changes are not guaranteed. Convenience changes are strongly discouraged. Schedule changes are only made by submitting a google form that can be found at - This link is available up to two weeks before a new trimester begins.

Students introduced to 4 year planning See Course Offerings sheet in packet Trimesters vs Semesters 7.5 credits per year 1, 2, or 3 trimester courses Opportunities for students: AP/Honors Articulation Wilson Talent Center Dual Enrollment Michigan Virtual High School Specialty courses – yearbook, School Store, LINKS….

8 How to Make 9th Grade Successful
ATTENDANCE Attend help labs and Bulldog Brilliance Check grades and missing assignments regularly on Skyward Planner use is highly recommended (not provided) Homework will increase. Do your homework! Communicate with your teacher and know his or her classroom policies Get to know your counselor. We are your advocate!
