5 MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
Full Member: Complete 45 hours of course work (at CofC, non- transfer or AP) 3.2 Cumulative GPA 3.2 Sciences GPA One time fee: $115 ($75 National, $40 Local) Associate Member: No minimum credit hour or GPA requirement $40 local chapter fee Only $75 once you meet the requirements for Full Membership 100 points PER SEMESTER

6 POINT SYSTEM Each member, full or associate, is required to earn a minimum of 100 points per semester in order to be considered an active member of AED Attendance at monthly meetings (3 per semester) = 20 points/meeting Participation in service, social, and pre-health events = 10 points/event What does 100 points look like? There are multiple ways to reach the minimum point requirement, but as an example… Monthly meeting attendance (3) = total of 60 points Service and social events (4) = total of 40 points 100 points

7 POINT SYSTEM Pre-health events qualify for points through AED
Qualifying events must be hosted by: Pre-Professional Health Advising office (Karen Eippert) at the College of Charleston Any events (conferences, etc.) advertised in the “other events” section at AED meetings In order to receive points fill out the Pre-Health Event Attendance Form which is posted on the blog and turn it in at the next AED meeting or during AED office hours. The form will require a signature from the presenter at the event.

Charleston Miracle JOIN AED’S Team Tonight! CougarThon- March 10th from 8:30 AM- 10:00 PM What: CougarThon is a 13-hour fundraiser for MUSC Children's hospital with a goal of raising $100,000 this year. Your registration fee covers three meals, a t-shirt, and entertainment for the day. You get 20 points for AED for registering for CougarThon! The miracle children from the hospital join us at CougarThon as well so you can see the direct impact of what you are doing by participating. 23 RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE Who? An organization that is dedicated to providing a “home away from home” for families. What? Help prepare a meal for the families of children who are being treated at surrounding medical care facilities. Where? Ronald McDonald House, 81 Gadsden St. We will meet in the lobby of SSMB at 3:45 and walk over together to RMH When? March 31st, 3:45 - 6:00 PM Limit: Only 6 spots available

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Ms. Wanda Taylor and Dr. Paul Underwood will be visiting on Wednesday, March 7th from 5:30-6:30 in SSMB 129 Important admissions sessions for school of medicine Pre-Nursing Members: There is a Nursing Club Meeting on March 7th at the College of Nursing at MUSC 5:30 in CON Room 221 “Everything You Need to Know About the Application Process” Presented by Karen Eippert on Thursday, March 29th at 6:15 PM, SSMB 129 Followed by a physician from MUSC who will be discussing financing and practicing in the medical field Greenville School of Medicine Wednesday, March 28th from 5:30-6:30 in SSMB 129 Be sure to say that once you sign up for a service or social event, please please go to that event. Especially for the service events, because there are often a limited number of spots.
