Like functionalists, Marxists believe the family contributes to the maintenance of societies structure.
Marxists do not think the nuclear family as functionally necessary.
Marxists believe the family is about a continuing conflict between social classes with opposing interests.

Marxists argue the nuclear family teachers people to ‘know their place’ and obey the ruling classes.
