1 Partnering RPConnect & Confidential 1

2 David Steiner, Chairman – Waste Management
“Our industry has shown its resilience and is primed for the next chapter—a chapter that recognizes recycling as a critical environmental service. One that recognizes that we can’t keep looking at our goals and programs through the same lens we did 20 years ago. One that uses data and new information to work smarter, focusing our efforts on recycling the right things to get the greatest environmental impact.” David Steiner, Chairman – Waste Management

3 The Previous Chapter

4 Landfills Air Pollution Leaching Pests Money Pits

5 Composting Protests Pests Leaching Air Pollution

6 Introducing Thermolysis
The Next Chapter, Introducing Thermolysis

7 Jim Fish, CEO – Waste Management
“It's got to be both environmentally and economically sustainable. Some of these technologies simply aren't scalable. Some of them don't work to begin with. Scalability is a big hurdle. It may work in a small laboratory setting, but it doesn't work on a bigger scale. Then it has to clear the economics hurdle. So far we've had a tough time getting them to clear that hurdle because landfills are very cost-effective. So being cost-competitive with a landfill is tough.” Jim Fish, CEO – Waste Management

8 Environmentally and Economically Sustainable
All other waste is taken to a central processing center Home-owners remove only metal & glass Pellets are fed into ATS Plant Non-Carbon material is removed & Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) pellets are created Valuable Biochar is created

9 Waste is 100% Recycled Biochar is produced and may optionally be refined to an Activated Carbon Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) pellets are supplied to the ATS Plant Synthetic Gas is created and used as a fuel source for the Plant Pyrolysis Oil is extracted and can be further refined to add value

10 It is Complete Recycling It is Not Digestion or Composting
Thermolysis Thermolysis takes place when a carbon based substance is subjected to a very high temperature in the absence of oxygen. Without the oxygen combustion cannot take place and instead the substance is broken down into its constituent elements: gas, oil and carbon. It is Complete Recycling It is Not Incineration It is Not Digestion or Composting

11 Proven Technology 2006 – 1st Generation of the ATS technology goes live commercially with a 500 kg/hour model 2008 – 2nd Generation 2000 kg/hour plant is employed commercially 2014 – 3rd Generation ATS500 is manufactured & rigorously tested 2016/2017 – 3rd Generation ATS500 is commissioned in Vegreville Alberta

12 Advanced Thermolysis System (ATS)
Modular & Scalable: Two basic models, the ATS1000 and the ATS2000, can be setup in an array such that large volumes of waste can be handled. Taiwan 2nd Generation Plant –2008 Vegreville Alberta - 3rd Generation Plant –2017 ATS1000 = 1,000 kg/hr input ATS2000 = 2,000 kg/hr input Taiwan 1st Generation Plant –2006

13 Uses and Applications

15 More Uses of Biochar Carbon fertilizer & compost
Substitute for peat in potting soil Plant protection Compensatory fertilizer for trace elements Silage agent Livestock feed additive / supplement Litter additive Slurry treatment &manure composting Water treatment in fish farming Biomass additive Additive for soil remediation Pesticide barrier re: surface water Treating pond and lake water Active carbon filter & exhaust filter Soil substrate for organic plant beds Composting toilets Micro-filters Macro-filters in developing countries Room air filters & air decontamination Construction insulation & humidity regulation Decontamination of earth foundations Protection against electromagnetic radiation Fabric additive for functional underwear Thermal insulation for functional clothing Deodorant for shoe soles Conservation of food Digesting helper Filling for mattresses & pillows Carbon fibres & plastics Semiconductors & batteries Metal reduction Soaps, skin-cream & therapeutic bath additives Food colorants Industrial paints Pellets substitute for lignite Detoxification in medicines Carrier for active pharmaceutical ingredients ithaka institute – Hans-Peter Schmidt – institut.org

16 On-going Site in Merritt BC
Tolko shut down this facility on Dec 16, 2016 and has invited EWS to occupy it. Municipal & regional governments have thrown their support behind EWS A public information event demonstrated extremely strong support for EWS Close proximity to Kelowna & Kamloops will aid in sourcing feedstock and selling finished goods

17 ATS Endorsements “The ATS technology is years ahead of any solution I have seen” Manager Business Development Biomass Renewable Energy, ABB Inc. " Among the biochar material that I have investigated so far, EWS' biochar showed the most promising characteristics and performance in electrochemical adsorption applications." Amir M. Dehkhoda, PhD in Chemical & Biological Engineering "In our current greenhouse trail, EWS Biochar has outperformed traditional soil amendments increasing crops productivity by enhancing germination and improving the physical and chemical profile of the substrate." Dr. Anayansi Cohen-Fernandez, Senior Land Reclamation Specialist, Coastal Raintree Consulting
