That purpose involved the gospel, which Paul was sent to proclaim to the nations - Ro 1:1 ,5 All Christians likewise have their "calling"... a. We are the "called of Jesus Christ" - Ro 1:6 b. We are "called to be saints" - Ro 1:7 Rom. 1:1 - Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, Rom. 1:6 - Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: Rom. 1:7 - To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Saint” Defined “Set apart for God, to be, as it were, exclusively His...this appellation is very often in the NT transferred to Christians, as those whom God has selected out of the world” - Thayer “It is used of men and things in so far as they are devoted to God. These are called hagoi, saints, i.e., ‘sanctified’ ‘holy ones.’ This sainthood is not an attainment, it is a state into which God in grace calls men” - Vine

Must Live Worthy Of Their “Calling”
The Ephesian “Saints” Were Warned To Avoid Things Not Befitting Their “calling” - Ephesians 5:3-5 “Saints” sometimes fail to live up to their “calling” Confess to God when you sin - 1 John 1:7-10 “Repent…and pray” - Acts 8:22 Go to the “throne of grace” - Hebrews 4:14-16 We have fellowship with God when “walking in the light” 1 John 1:5-7 Strive not to sin - 1 John 2:1 Saints In Christ Jesus Eph: 5: But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 1 Jn. 1: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. Acts 8: "Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 "For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity." 24 Then Simon answered and said, "Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.“ - NKJV Heb. 4: Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. 1 Jn. 2:1 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Jas. 1:5-6 - If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Prov. 2:6 - For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Prov. 9:10 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Tit. 3:8 - This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. 14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Heb. 10: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 1 Pet. 2:12 - Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Col. 2:1-3 - For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Col. 3:10 - And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 2 Pet READ 2 Pet. 3:18 - But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
