6 AWARDS & ACCOLADES UCC awarded Athena SWAN Bronze Award
UCC is ranked in the top 2% of global universities in the World University Rankings UCC performed strongly, scoring 13 As and 13 Bs across the 35 indicators in the EU U-Multirank 2017. UCC is 1st for research income from industry sources in Ireland according to KTI Survey 2016. UCC is ranked 75th in Reuter’s top 100 innovative universities in Europe UCC has been voted Sunday Times Irish University of the Year for the 2nd year in a row and a record five times in the last 14 years, including 16/17 UCC has 16 subjects featured in the top tier globally (QS World University Ranking by Subject 2017)

7 UCC Strategic Plan The term of UCC’s new Strategic Plan , Independent Thinking, Shared Ambition, commenced on 1 October 2017. The direction, scope and the priority actions of the University for the next 5-year period have been identified and finalised. The University Management Team – Strategy (UMTS), chaired by the President, were the strategic planning committee of the University and were responsible for developing the Strategic Plan in consultation with students, staff and key internal and external stakeholders.

8 EIB LOAN DRIVES UCC’S BIGGEST EXPANSION
The European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a €100 million loan agreement with UCC to support an ambitious €241 million development plan. Projects include:  €64 Million investment supporting Student Accommodation projects;  €37 million investment to build a new Cork University Dental School, Research Centre & Hospital; €27 million to fund Western Campus Development including the Cork Science & Innovation Park (Phase 1) & Outdoor Sports Facilities; More than €90 Million expenditure for a new Student Hub, ICT Services, Facilities upgrade, refurbishment, building extensions as well as flood remedial works and Western Gateway infrastructure; €23 Million to fund new Clinical Medical School for the Cork Hospitals and associated research and health innovation activity; The funding will also help facilitate a €10 million University investment across University Hospital Waterford, University Hospital Kerry and South Tipperary General Hospital.

9 IMI AND UCC MERGER The merger between IMI and UCC in late 2016 has been a game-changing event for Irish business and provides added momentum to Ireland’s economic resurgence. It will serve as a catalyst for the development of UCC’s new Business School, [“CUBS”] and further both partners’ shared ambition to raise the standard of management practice in Ireland by enabling organisations and individuals to fulfil their potential through world-class executive education. The IMI achieved 54th position globally and 25th in Europe in the customised programme ranking in the 2017 Financial Times Executive Education Rankings published recently. The IMI remains the only business school ranked by the Financial Times in Ireland for customised executive education, based on schools that customise programmes for companies.
