4. Hoyt Community
One way people at Hoyt show a sense of community is by doing nice things for others because they care. When someone picks up a pencil you dropped or holds a door open for you, saying thank you is a polite response to show appreciation.
At Hoyt we have something called Student to Student SOAR tickets. Giving one of these to someone says that you recognize that person for SOARing at Hoyt and that they are appreciated as part of this community, the Hoyt community.
You could talk about other things that would be examples of politeness in our Hoyt community. -- holding doors open for someone, following any of the S/O, A, R rules, picking something up and returning to the person that dropped it, or throwing trash in the proper place,

5. Student to Student SOAR ticket
Think of something you have witnessed being done by a Hoyt student for another student in this building.
We are going to complete a ticket for that student as a thank you for being a fine Hawk here at Hoyt.
Pass out the SOAR to SOAR tickets.

6. Hoyt Students SOAR
I caught ___________________Grade Level______________ (First and last name) doing the most awesome thing ever, and I just wanted to let you know. I had to let the whole world know! Explain how to complete this…. Kids often do not know others’ last names, or they put their name on the first blank. Grade level is important for distribution.
They do not know what witness means, or that their name goes on the line above the word witness and they will write it underneath, job applications could get thrown out for such mistakes. Model an example for them. Complete one for a student or a fellow teacher (peer)

People from the area enjoying the same activities, music, sports, frequenting the restaurants enjoying the city

What do these people have in common? They want to help their community by helping the people who need it

15. Enabling Gardens
Gardeners/Master gardeners - in common hobbies with plants, creating something nice for the neighborhood, providing experiences for people with disabilities

Giving back to those in the community who need assistance

You are going to decorate a piece of card stock that has images/words that represent you as an individual.
These squares will be put together in a “class quilt” that represents our Hawk Time class community.
These Hawk Time quilts will be put together to represent a grade level community quilt.
Those larger grade level quilts will be put together to show our HOYT Middle School community quilt.
