Americans now more willing to join the war on the side of the Allies with Russia out. Why?
Germany now focus on a “one-front war” (Western front)

5. Turning the Tide of War
American troops/marines saved Paris by stopping the the German advance during the battle of Chateau- Thierry
Stopped the Germans at Battle of Amiens
Allies insisted on total surrender, Germany started to retreat

6. Ending the War
During retreat, Germany wanted to dictate some surrender terms, Allies refused
Armistice (cease fire) signed on November 11, 1918
November 11 was known as Armistice Day-to honor the veterans of WWI
Today, November 11 is known as Veteran’s Day to honor all American veterans
Human lives lost estimated at 8 million
Soldiers
Civilians
Several nations lost citizens due to political lines/boundaries redrawn after WWI
