4 weeks
Required to enroll in the Intermediate Construction Trades (ICT), Highway/Heavy Construction (HHC) or Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) trades programs

Basic Safety, OSHA-10, CPR and First Aid
Introduction to Construction Math, Hand and Power Tools, Construction Drawings and Materials Handling

Successful completion of one- week Orientation.
8th grade reading and math levels on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
Interest in working with a variety of hand and power tools and an ability to get along with crew members

Medical clearance
Physical tolerance for light and moderate work
Lifting requirement range of 5 to 40 lbs
Must pass a drug screen to participate in the Trades Internship

High school graduation or equivalency
Strong preference given to racial and ethnic minorities, females and individuals with economic disadvantages

Minimum score of 56% (69% or higher preferred) on the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test, Form S, during one-week Orientation to program
