Physical Modeling
Using physical materials to create a representation of an object or concept.
Scale Model: A representation of a design that is either larger or smaller than the actual model usually intended for study purposes
Mock-up: An appearance model used to present the general concept of a design. Not good enough to be a prototype
Mock-ups are not identical to the final design. Mock-ups are used to show the general appearance and intended function; however, they differ from the final design in some aspect such as material or mechanical operation.
Prototype: Full-scale working model of the actual design used to test and improve a design concept by making actual observations and necessary adjustments.
