Objective – Your employment goal. What do you want? Profile – Sums up your best assets and strengths, qualifications, and experiences that qualify you for the position in 3-4 statements.

Enter anticipated degree date Can also list a minor No need to list high school information Only list a GPA > 3.0 Additional certifications or technical college experiences may be listed in chronological order

7 Employment or experience
List experiences that are relevant to the position you are seeking. Explains what you have achieved or learned that would benefit the employer Use Reverse Chronological Order Use words/phrases that are similar to the job posting Do not use “I” statements Present Positions = Present tense verbs Past Positions = Past tense verbs Do not become repetitive with your verbs and phrases Use ONET for verbiage! You can list volunteer or project experiences Can separate experiences into 2 categories Relevant Experiences & Other Experiences

8 Campus and community involvement
Shows you are an individual who is willing to do much more than just ‘work’. Highlights leadership experiences, involvement List organizations or positions that are relevant to the position you are seeking

Complete Sentences are not required Can list positions in bold font to help them stand out Use bullet points 1-2 pages is acceptable All bullet points & dates should line up correctly Either use/don’t use periods at the end of sentences (consistency) White space is O.K.! (easier to read) Do not allow a job description to be split up on 2 pages Make the margins wider to fit all needed information on a page Do not include your life story! Only include experiences useful to the position of interest There is not the RIGHT format – it is personal preference
