In most cases, you will not need to leave Canada. Most international students become PRs after graduation through these 3 programs : Provincial Nominee Program Canadian Experience Class Federal Skilled Worker Program

Self-employed Persons Program Federal Skilled Trades Program Start-up Visa Family Sponsorship However, keep in mind that everyone’s situation is unique. There are many different immigration programs, each with a different application procedure and processing time. You may also qualify for other programs such as the Self-employed Persons Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Start-up Visa and Family Sponsorship (e.g. through a Canadian or PR spouse/common-law partner).

3 Categories: International students with a job offer International PhD Graduate - No job offer required International Master's Graduate - No job offer required International Students The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program can facilitate the immigration process for international students who have completed their studies at a publicly funded college or university in Canada and would like to live and work permanently in Ontario. International students can apply to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program through the following streams: International students with a job offer International PhD Graduate - No job offer required International Master's Graduate - No job offer required Refugee claimants with an application to remain in Canada that is pending are not eligible to apply for OINP. A refugee claimant whose claim has been rejected, abandoned or withdrawn must exit Canada prior to applying for OINP. Refugee claimants may only apply to OINP once they have left Canada. For more information related to refugee claimants, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website: International students subsidized through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) grants or home country scholarship with return obligations will not be eligible for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program unless such obligations have been fulfilled. 5 International students With a job offer
Eligibility Criteria Approved permanent full-time job Job in a high-skilled occupation (NOC 0, A or B) Meets the entry-level wage Graduated from an eligible funded Canadian college or university Meets all degree requirements at the time of application Application fee : $1500 Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) offers international students with a job offer the opportunity to permanently live and work in Ontario. Prospective nominees (the applicant) can only apply if: they have received an approved permanent full-time job offer from an Ontario employer, or from a business making an approved and endorsed investment in Ontario. A full-time position is considered to be a position that consists of 1,560 hours of paid employment in a 12 month period. The following are not considered permanent, full-time employees even if they work 1,560 hours in a 12-month period: Seasonal or part-time Employees regardless of their working hours, Subcontractors, independent contractors, business owners or agency workers, Employees who do not work on the company’s premises, such as employees who work from home, or employees who work in a “virtual” location, and serve the employer by telecommuting. Have a job offer in a high-skilled occupation (NOC 0, A or B). Meets the entry-level wage levels in Ontario for that occupation. Have graduated from or have met the requirements of a full-time degree or diploma program at an eligible publicly-funded Canadian college or university that is at least two (2) years in length or a one year post-graduate certificate program, which requires a previous degree in order to qualify, have completed at least half of their studies in Canada, and apply within two years from the date on which they graduated. OINP will not accept applications from International Students in their final semester of studies. Applicants must have met all the degree requirements at the time of application. Ontario employers must first submit a Pre-Screen Application to have the position they wish to fill approved by OINP. For information on the Pre-Screen application process for Ontario employers, visit the Employer section of the OINP website. The application fee for international students with a job offer is $1500. This fee can be paid by either the applicant or the employer, but must be included in the nominee application package. Find more detailed information in the MCIIT website

6 International PhD Graduate No job offer required
Eligibility criteria Completed all requirements for the degree Graduated from a funded university in Ontario Completed at least two years of study Applying within two years of the graduation date Intends to live and work in Ontario Legal status in Canada Applicants can also apply for PNP outside of Canada To be eligible to apply as a PhD Graduate, the applicant must meet the following criteria: have successfully completed all requirements for the degree (i.e. have completed all course work, and successfully defended their thesis and are awaiting the conferring of their degree) at an eligible publicly-funded university in Ontario where the applicant completed at least two years of study, applying within two years of the date on which their PhD was granted, intends to live and work in Ontario, and have legal status in Canada (i.e. study permit, work permit, visitor record) if living in Canada at the time of the application PhD applicants can also apply for OINP outside of Canada. 7 International Master's Graduate No job offer required
Eligibility Criteria Meets all program requirements of a Masters Degree that is at least one academic year long Graduated from an eligible funded university in Ontario Applying within two years of the graduation date Legal status in Canada Currently residing in Ontario To be eligible to apply as a Masters Graduate, the applicant must meet the following criteria: have graduated or have met degree requirements from a Masters Degree program that is at least one academic year, completed full-time at an eligible publicly-funded university in Ontario, applying within two years of the date on which their Masters Degree was granted, have legal status in Canada (i.e. study permit, work permit, visitor record), currently reside in Ontario, (see next slide) intends to live and work in Ontario, demonstrate high official language proficiency equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark 7 Demonstrated through the following International English Language Testing (IELTS) General Test scores and Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) scores in each language competency: Listening: IELTS 6 or TEF Reading: IELTS 6 or TEF Writing: IELTS 6 or TEF Speaking: IELTS 6 or TEF , demonstrate a minimum level of savings/income to support themselves and their dependents, demonstrate at least 12 cumulative months of residence in Ontario in the 24 months prior to the submission of the application, and must not be intending to pursue further academic studies in Ontario. OINP will not accept applications from International Students in their final semester of studies. Applicants must have met all the degree requirements at the time of application. 8 International Master's Graduate No job offer required
Eligibility Criteria Intends to live and work in Ontario Demonstrates high official language proficiency Demonstrates a minimum level of savings/income Demonstrates at least 12 cumulative months of residency Does not intend to pursue further academic studies

9 Canadian Experience Class & Federal Skilled Worker Program
Federal immigration programs Must use Express Entry CIC ranks applicants Only CIC invited applicants can apply for PR 60 days to apply for PR online CEC and FSKP are: Federal economic immigration programs Candidate must use Express Entry, which is used to manage applications for permanent residence Potential candidates will complete an online Express Entry profile. Those who meet the criteria of one of the federal immigration programs listed above will be accepted into a pool of candidates. The highest-ranking candidates in the pool will be invited to apply for permanent residence Candidates with the highest scores in the pool will be issued an Invitation to Apply. If someone is invited to apply, they will have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residence. The CEC : Most students who apply through CEC (1) apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP), (2) gain the required work experience by using the PGWP, and (3) apply for CEC. The FSWP : Students can apply through the FSWP only if they meet all the conditions set out in the minimum requirements and they have enough points in the “FSWP Grid.” For more information visit CIC website.
