Contributions GSC16-PLEN-35 Smart Grid Standardization Activities TIA GSC16-PLEN-36 ETSI Standardization Activities on Smart Grids ETSI GSC16-PLEN-47 IEEE-SA Smart Grid IEEE SA GSC16-PLEN-53 Smart Grid ICT: Security, Interoperability and Next Steps ISACC GSC16-PLEN-58 ATIS and the Smart Grid ATIS GSC16-PLEN-60 ITU-T Focus Group on Smart Grid ITU SGIP membership is increasing, more international organizations are participating. PSOs have strong expertise in ICT, and recognize the need for cross industry (power & ICT) collaboration and international cooperation. ISACC’s work on Smart Grid Participates in standards developing with SGIP, IEC TC 57, ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 25 and SC 27, IEEE P2030, ITU-R WP 5C. Established a national task force on smart grid Positioned to adopt international standards related to Smart Grid, and is evaluating potential service offering Stress implementation issues: spectrum harmonization, security, privacy, interoperability TIA’s work on Smart Grid TR45.5 is working with SGIP PAP02 on Guidelines for Assessing Wireless Standards for Smart Grid Applications TR50 and TR41 work on standards related to smart grid device communications (M2M), TR51 is developing access standards for Smart Utility Network

2 HIS Smart Grid – Summary (2)
ATIS’s work on Smart Grid Transport layer: Work with SGIP PAP02 on Guidelines for Assessing Wireless Standards for Smart Grid Applications Service layer: M2M Focus Group addressing Smart Grid and others. Review use cases, and analyze protocols, in particular SEP 2.0 Strategy directions: Access/Transport/Delivery of Data and Services, Security and Conditional Access, Service Management; SG flows from HAN through ESI into carrier Access-IP core. Challenges: privacy, critical infrastructure protection, pricing, metering, renewal generation, spectrum ETSI works on EU mandates – Smart Metering, PEV, Smart Grid Coordinated the work through TC M2M Active participation in EC Smart Grid Coordination Group ITU-T initiated a focus group on smart grid to provide roadmap for TSAG. Will finalize its reports in December, 5 documents: overview, terminologies, use cases, requirements, and architecture. IEEE baseline standards cover diverse fields applicable for smart grid IEEE 2030: Reference mode and three Interoperability Architecture Perspectives (IAP) on power system, communications technology, information technology. Update GSC15 Resolution Drafting group will meet to update the resolution
