There was a lot of overcrowding in the prisons. Ironically, this is the same reason that Georgia was founded.

Life was very harsh. They were treated poorly and often punished. They were forced into labor.

Many were forced off their land. Some were force into labor. Many were killed. However, most died of disease.

People had heard of the cheap land and the ability to make money. Many people immigrated there looking for a new start and property.

Many people, both with the support of the British Government and without, went to lands and claimed them as their own. The government was happy to give them the land because they needed settlers on the continent.
