14 How to get Ed Jobs Fund Must have an ARRA Education Stabilization Fund Grant submitted in MEGS Must complete certification in MEGS Read the updated assurances Review the use of funds Understand there will be Section 1512 reporting

16 Ed Job Fund Certification
In order to receive Education Jobs Funds (Ed Jobs Funds) my district: a) Will comply with all assurances and certifications related to the Ed Jobs Funds, CFDA A; b) Will read the Important Information related to Ed Jobs funds; c) Understands the acceptable uses of Ed Jobs funds; d) Understands that quarterly Section 1512 reports must be submitted to the Michigan Department of Education in accordance with specified deadlines; and e) Understands that a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number and current Central Contractor Registration (CCR) information must entered into the Education Entity Master (EEM). All of the above documents are contained in the Education Stabilization Grants application or the MDE Grants Website under What’s New: Education Jobs Fund.

17 Ed Jobs Carryover All sub-recipients will be able to submit an extension request in MEGS All requests will be granted Will extend end date to 6/30/2012 Certification in MEGS in May to request

18 Use of Funds Compensation, benefits and other expenses
Support services, necessary to retain existing employees Recall or rehire former employees Hire new employees, in order to provide early childhood, elementary, or secondary educational and related services Building level focus; no central administration

19 Use of Funds (con’t.) “Compensation and benefits and other expenses, such as support services.” Includes: Salaries Performance bonuses Health insurance Retirement benefits Incentives for early retirement Pension fund contributions Tuition reimbursement Student loan repayment assistance Transportation subsidies Reimbursement for childcare expenses

Principals, assistant principals Academic coaches, athletic coaches In-service teacher trainers, classroom aides, counselors Librarians, secretaries Social workers, psychologists, interpreters, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, nurses Information technology personnel Security officers, custodians, maintenance workers, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers

21 Prohibited use of Funds
General administrative expenses Operation of the superintendent’s office or board of education, including the salaries and benefits of district-level administrative employees District-level support services Payment of expenditures for fiscal services, program planners and researchers, and human resource services
