1. 2 nd – 6 th Rockstars March 24 - 28 Weekly Reminders 4th Grade Literacy – In Literacy class students will continue to learn comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be completing a drama unit, as well as, participating in a reader’s theater as part of their summative assessment. 5th Grade Literacy - In Literacy class students will build upon their prior knowledge of comprehension skills and strategies to become better readers. This week students will be able to identify characteristics of folktales, myths, and fairy tales. Have a GREAT Spring Break!! Penny Wars – March 24 th thru 28 th Crowder & Rogers Lock-In & KY Horse Park Trip Thursday Night March 27 th at 7:00 p.m. & Friday, March 28 th Spring Break – March 31 st thru April 4 th 2nd Grade Math - 2nd Grade Math-My second graders will be reading, writing, comparing, and ordering fractions for halves, thirds, and fourths. 3rd Grade Math - 3rd Grade Math-My third graders will be creating bar, line and picture graphs and using these graphs to interpret data. 2nd Grade Social Studies - My 2nd grade class will be studying about immigration and citizenship. 3rd Grade Social Studies - My 3rd grade class will be having lots of fun studying about the life of the Vikings. 4th Grade Social Studies - My two forth grade classes will be studying about Kentucky in the new century between the years of 1880 and 1940 including life in KY during the Great Depression. 2nd & 3 rd Grade Literacy I can determine if a sentence is a fact or opinion based upon clue words. ​ I can ask myself questions as I read to improve comprehension. I can develop vocabulary to use when reading, writing, and speaking. 2nd Grade Science I can explain which parts help plants grow. I can explain which body parts help animals survive. 3rd Grade Science I can explain how electrical energy is made and moved. I can describe how electrical energy does useful work.

2. Bowen Language Arts- Students are studying Legends and Fables. Ask your child who a protagonist is! Science- Students are studying landforms and how these effect weather. Math - This week in math we will be comparing, ordering and rounding decimals. Continue to work on multiplication facts. Check out the math tab on my teacher website for internet activities to review concepts we have already learned. Science- This week in science we will be learning more about the moon. We will focus on moon phases, how the moon affects the tides and day/night. We will also learn about space exploration. 6th - Writer's Workshop: We will be putting the finishing touches on our Argumentative Essay before Spring Break. 5th - Writer's Workshop: We will be completing our Opinion Essays and also we will be competing with each other for "Who Knows the Most About Opinion Essays?" Daily Five: Our Concept Skill for the week is "Fact/Opinion". We will also be spending time with our Kindergarten Partners in working on our Collaborative Storybooks. Rock On! & Enjoy Spring Break! Linder 5th grade Math I can read points on a coordinate grid. I can plot points on a coordinate grid. I can graph an equation. I can classify triangles by their side lengths and angle measures. I can apply the property that the sum of the angle measures of a triangle is 180. 5th Social Studies I can define manifest destiny. I can describe how the US acquired territory. I can explain how native peoples were affected by the westward expansion of the US. We would like to welcome Ms. Hillary Rickard to our class. She will be doing her student teaching with us for several weeks. We will be graphing linear equations with the help of Barbie and Ken.
