The Problem:
The Akron Brick & Block production usually operates months/year. Prior to 1999, all three Teka Pan Mixers were lined with AR steel liners. The liners were traditionally replaced at the end of each year, not because they were worn out, but because the remaining liner thickness would not allow an additional full years use. Down time during the season was not an option. The customer required a guarantee that the Rhino Hyde® liners would last at least through a complete second year of use.

The Solution:
In their quest for a better way, AB&B had previously tried a rubber liner, with very poor results. Thus, they were very skeptical about our liner system. After several meetings, Tandem agreed to mold in wear indicators so it would be easy to determine, at the end of one year of service, if the liner would last through a second complete year. AB&B installed our liner during down time in January Initial results were very positive. AB&B personnel liked the cleanability of the system. Production continued throughout the year as AB&B monitored the wear on the Rhino Hyde® liners.
The Conclusion:
At the end of 1999, AB&B was astounded at the lack of wear showing on the Tandem polyurethane liner. They project the Rhino Hyde® liners will last several more years. To the surprise of no one at Tandem, AB&B has just purchased their second pan mixer liner, installed in January AB&B reports that cleaning time has been reduced by 90%. The first liner now 2 ½ years in use, continue to perform.
