Start Part Design with a “Blank Sheet” -- Mechanical Design & Part Design

3. After we start: Pick a Logical Name

5. Enter SKETCHER on yz Plane!
Set up grid information with Tools … Options

6. Allow Distortion – H: 100mm and 20; V: 100mm and 10
Make sure Parameters . Units in millimeters first!

7. Follow Tutorial 2.1: Spline/Circle/Pad with experimentation

8. Sketcher on Front Face!
Select it and then the Part Face

9. Construction on Projection

10. Smart Picking Constraints to Geometry

11. Pocketing:

13. Sketching XY Plane and Cutting by that Plane – drawing on the inside!
The Cutting Plane ICON may be hidden – check Tools/Customize and any light >> icons!

14. Making a Circle as prescribed!
Double-Clicking an ICON keeps it active for more than one Feature

15. Pad the Circle into the original holes surfaces:

16. Don’t forget to File .. SaveAs &/or Save Management when we enter the Drafting WB

17. Constraints!!!!
Be careful – constraints are “Super Powerful” but can get you into trouble – especially Auto-Constraints
Use these Constraint Tools – double click them to hold!

18. Use Constraints w/out Snap – Speedier Drawing
For Geometric Constraints – here Angle

19. Length – Distance Between Whatever

20. As long as it stays green – you are “OK”

21. Corner Tools – Great Care!
Red Line = Trouble!!!

22. Corners – Fillets (Chamfers) – Be careful!

23. After Pad – MORE (both above and below the X-Y Plane)
Choice of the one that shows Hidden Lines

24. Now go to work Begin Developing Parts labeled:
2.1b, 2.1c, 2.1d, 2.1f in the handout

Plan any Auxiliary views for further sketching of details
