2. Overview & Background
The DOH’s Scientific Laboratory Division (SLD) utilizes an application by LabWare for their Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), which is hosted on-site at SLD in Albuquerque.
The Medical Cannabis Program (MCP) utilizes a hosted application by Bio Track, THC for management of Patient Services and Licensing & Compliance of Licensed Non Profit Producers (LNPP’s).
NOTE: LNPP’s are the growers and dispensaries of medical cannabis product(s).

3. LabWare Problem Description
The Medical Cannabis Program is establishing a quality assurance lab at the DOH Scientific Laboratory Division to validate independent laboratory results and to respond to complaints that may affect patient health and safety.
The current LabWare application, does not accommodate testing of Cannabis products.
Proposed Solution: Upgrade LabWare to perform testing of cannabis products
Upgrade 5 instruments
Add 16 tests
Environmental tests, Organic tests, Metals/Moisture testing

4. BioTrack Problem Description
LNPP’s opening multiple business locations, which cannot be tracked in system.
Lab result limitations and unlimited batch size do not allow for optimized reporting.
Unit calculations requires enhancement
Solution: Add 4 enhancements to Bio Track
Patient Services spends vast amounts of time on data entry and filing of paper Patient Applications and Medical Records. Filing and storage costs are > $100K/year
Solution: Out of scope for this project

5. Project Goals
Add functionality to the current LabWare application to establish the SLD as the quality assurance reference laboratory to ensure patient health and safety measures are in place.
Add functionality to the current Bio Track application to support the growing business needs.
Capture additional LNPP’s business locations
Lab result tracking with “<“ symbol
Batch size limit
Unit calculations within the Seed to Sale lifecycle.

LabWare configurations in progress – team meetings with SLD, MCP and Labware; requirements and configuration
IV&V in progress; 2 deliverables completed
Conducted demos with Bio Track to review enhancement options and their v2.0
Reviewed Medical Cannabis automation solutions in 5 states that offer Medical Cannabis
Developed PCC Planning & Implementation documents
