2 What is Career and Technical Education?
• Encompasses 94 percent of high school students and 8.4 million individuals seeking postsecondary certificates and associate degrees in CTE fields • Includes high schools, career centers, community and technical colleges, four-year universities and more • Educates students for a range of career options through 16 Career Clusters® and 79+ pathways • Integrates with academics in a rigorous and relevant curriculum • Features high school and postsecondary partnerships, enabling clear pathways to certifications and degrees • Fulfills employer needs in high-skill, high-wage, high-demand areas • Prepares students to be college- and career-ready by providing core academic skills, employability skills and technical, job-specific skills

3 What is Career and Technical Education?
In the State of Oregon, All Carl Perkins Approved Programs of Study will all have these resources available. Industry except that teaches the class 5 member Advisory Board from the Industry Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)

4 Oregon Data In the graduating class of 2015:
The graduation rate for all students was 74%. - 14% of all students statewide had academic disabilities. - Among all students statewide, the graduation rate for students with academic disabilities was 53%. The graduation rate for CTE concentrators was 88%. - 16% of CTE concentrators had academic disabilities. - Among CTE concentrators, the graduation rate for students with academic disabilities was 71%. A CTE concentrator is defined as any secondary student who has earned one or more credits in a technical skill course(s) as part of an Oregon state-approved CTE Program (CTE POS, State-Recognized CTE Program), of which at least one-half credit must be designated as “required” for program completion.
