Based on our prior conversations, we understand that over the years, you have been able to solve your specific business challenges with your instance of <Oracle app – E-Business Suite, JD Edwards, Peoplesoft, Siebel>. You’ve invested years into your mission-critical app environment, done 1000s of customizations to suit your organization’s needs and 100s of integrations with other apps and components. In fact, you may have built it into your system of record, enabling you to run your day to day operations as effectively as possible. Without it, you can’t properly manage your warehouse, manage your inventory, track your receivables nor pay your vendors. In essence, you can’t run your business without it.

Key Considerations Where’s the optimal place to run your Oracle Application?
SaaS Other IaaS We’re talking today because you’re looking to make some optimizations to your Oracle application environment, but where best to run your Oracle application? You can remain on-premises, but managing the physical infrastructure your self simply isn’t strategic. What’s more it’s cumbersome. The cost of building and maintaining data centers on- premises is too high, and you don’t want your staff to waste time on non-revenue generating activities such as hardware refreshes or software upgrades. At the same time, having a physical infrastructure leads to inefficient forecasting or capacity planning. To avoid overprovisioning, you pay for more than you need, which can lead to underutilization. Plus when you need to scale up or down, you’re not able to do so quickly. Can’t effectively manage the impact on IT that business changes like M&A, spin outs have At the same time, you may not be able to go to SaaS because you may be required to make too many compromises. No cloud vendor so far has been able to offer a comprehensive solution that can do all that <Oracle app> enables you to do. There’s no equivalent to EBS or JDE in the cloud. You’ll lose the customizations you need, and it’ll be challenging to re-integrate with your other apps and components. What’s more you may need to do a full process redesign and train the company on new process flows and UI. And perhaps you haven’t moved to other cloud infrastructures yet because you’re concerned about meeting your enterprise requirements. Firstly, you may not want to deal with rearchitecting everything to meet those requirements. With all of the integrations you’ve made with other applications, database, analytics and other component, you may run the risk of a critical component not working. Let’s face it – if your business depends on you getting shipments out to customers on time, that label printer in the warehouse just needs to work. Or perhaps it will be too time-consuming to retrain your staff to manage a new cloud solution or to onboard a new MSP or IT vendor. And you’re concerned about getting the performance you demand for your critical application. Finally, you may be unsure of the true cost savings of cloud. 3 App and mid-tier run on OCI Database runs on Database Cloud Oracle Managed Cloud Services (OMCS) or Managed Service Providers (MSP) for application management Automated app and database management Oracle / MSP manages everything for you 2 App and mid-tier run on OCI Database runs on Database Cloud for automated database management You manage and maintain application You control and maintain database There are 3 basic options for how Apps Unlimited gets deployed on IaaS. 1) The application and the Database both run on Oracle Cloud infrastructure. In this instance the customer controls both the application and the mid-tier. This will be the case often when a customer has a partner managing their implementation for them 2) The application and its customizations run on OCI, but the Database runs on on Database Cloud Service to take advantage of the services DCS provides 3) The final option is actually the same implementation as the second option, except in this case it is consumed as a managed service where either Oracle or a partner manages the entire implementation for the customer. 1 App stack runs on OCI You manage and maintain application AND database You control and maintain app, mid-tier and database
