We bought our Saeco Espresso Intuita (refurbished) in 2014 and have enjoyed easy and reliable morning espresso ever since. Espresso from beans on Demand Saeco Espresso Intuita Descaling by Very Technical Writer: John Tissell

3 Until the dreaded CALC CLEAN light turns red and stays red…
The descaling process requires attention for at least half an hour (or more if a fault occurs). Any interruption will require restarting the process. WARNING: Limescale builds up inside the tubing during use and requires periodic removal to allow water and coffee to flow. 4 Prepare for descaling Turn on espresso machine.
Empty and replace drip tray. Remove Pannarello (milk steam frother) from hot water/steam wand. Remove filter from water tank, if installed. Add descaling solution for espresso machines to water tank per directions. (See note on tank level.) WARNING: Never drink any descaling solution or any dispensed liquids until after a minimum of two complete rinse cycles after descaling solution finished. Never use vinegar for descaling as damage may occur. Position catch containers for descaling liquids. NOTE: Water tank holds about 7 cups or 1.7 liters, plan on monitoring and emptying receiving containers as needed. 7 Water tank level may be very sensitive
Hang tank's lip over an edge to level it and fill below the Max line. HINT: Try the bottom of the letters Max for highest level of water. Experimentation may be necessary as the machine ages. NOTE: If water tank is not full enough, the machine will run out of water before cycle completes. 8 Red alert! Our machine often enters fault mode if water level is not exact. (See water tank) Saeco Espresso Intuita Descaling by Very Technical Writer: John Tissell

9 Escaping from fault mode
Turn off power for at least thirty seconds from the power switch on the back of the machine. Refill the water tank carefully (see previous) and empty catch containers as well as drip pan. Power back on. Press CALC CLEAN button to restart descaling cycle if necessary. NOTE: More cleaning solution is not required. 10 After the descaling solution is dispensed, at least two tanks of fresh water will be required to finish flushing the machine. NOTE: Rinse cycle dispenses water continually. Rinse cycles Saeco Espresso Intuita Descaling by Very Technical Writer: John Tissell

11 When descale and rinse cycle is complete, the CALC CLEAN light will go out and the red water refill light will turn on: Replace the filter, if used. Fill the water tank. Descaling complete! Saeco Espresso Intuita Descaling by Very Technical Writer: John Tissell
