GENRE – ASSIGNMENT 1 - SIGNIFIERS

2 Close-up shot High angle Extreme Close-Up Oblique angle Eye Level shot
The shot is taken from the movie Amelia is done to show her facial expression and the reflection of the spoon. The colour scheme of red and white shows the mood of the movie of a romantic and also a comedy due to the smile of the characters face and the random spoon. The shot is taken from the black and white Notorious (1946 film) showing the character holding keys in his hand. The keys must be vital to the storyline as it is shown close up and the keys are in focus compared The shot is from inglorious Bastards, the shot is done to show the POV of victim and it makes the viewers feel like they are involved, that they are the victim. Its also done to show they are in control. Close-up shot Extreme Close-Up Low angle Eye Level shot High angle The shot is taken from the film Noir movie Sin City. The high angled shot is used to maybe throw off the lighting or show unwanted parts of the scenery for example the dead body with control backlighting and silhouette . Oblique angle This camera shot is taken by Fabrizio R. The shot is tilted in this picture, which shows the reflection of the buildings and the stunning beauty if it. P.O.V shot The shot is taken from the movie Stick It, the camera is positioned at eye level, as though it is the character staring towards the camera and the viewers. The shot is taken from a western. The point of view shot shows what a character is looking at the other character but their view is represented by the camera.

3 Cinematography: Lengths and Angles
Long shot The shot is taken from Men In Black movie, the long shot is used to fit all the characters in the frame including the alien to show what's going on in the scene and also shows the scientists in the background. The shot clearly shows t the genre of the movie is sci-fi due the alien and the hit-tech, futuristic equipment in the shot. Mid shot The following shot is taken from Spiderman3 movie showing the characters laying on a web and the main character aka Spiderman looking up towards camera/sky. The camera shot shows the mood of the scene as the characters are relaxed due to hands behind their heads and also a sense of romance due to the female character staring at the male in complete lust. Extreme Long Shot The extreme long shot is a shot wherein the object, in the western genre usually the “lonerider”, occupies a small ratio of the screen space in relation to the setting or their surroundings. In the extreme long shot the screen space is filled mainly with the surroundings as in the western genre this is a panoramic view of a desolate plain, mountain or valley. Aerial/Overhead shot The shot is taken from The Dark Night Rises movie showing batman in flight, showing his surroundings and the long distance to the ground beneath him. The colour blue is used in this shot to highlight the mood of the scene and to camouflage The Dark Knight..
