CIS 290 Week 2 Individual Assignment Appendices A, B & C For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 2 Individual Assignment Appendices A, B & C Moore’s Law states that the number of transistors on a computer chip doubles every two years. This means that the power, speed, and application of computers are ever increasing. Along with these changes in performance, software is also improving, constantly pushing a computer’s capabilities to the edge. As a computer technician, you must constantly stay up-to-date with these changes in technology. This includes understanding the dynamics of hardware and software and how they interact with each other. To stay current, you must include research as a necessary part of your job.

CIS 290 Innovative Education-- snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 2 Individual Assignment Computer Disposal For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 2 Individual Assignment Computer Disposal Consider the following: Advancements in computer design are outpacing the life of the computer and its components. Within a matter of a few years, a computer is obsolete and ready to be replaced, leaving its owner with questions on how to properly dispose of the machine. Should it simply be tossed out? Should it be refurbished? May parts be recycled to minimize waste?

CIS 290 Innovative Education-- snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 3 Individual Assignment Appendix D and E For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com The motherboard, the main printed circuit board in a computer, contains the computer’s basic circuitry and components. The motherboard carries the central processing unit and system buses, and it is equipped with sockets that connect to the computer’s memory module, processors, plug-in cards, and peripheral devices. Below you will find the computer motherboard from the Computer Hardware Simulator (CHS) with its various components marked A through J. In the chart that follows, identify the component marked by each letter, and then describe each component’s function

CIS 290 Innovative Education-- snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 4 Individual Assignment Appendices F,G,H For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is one of the most important parts of a computer system. It has a huge impact on the overall performance of any computer. If you have the opportunity, it is better to select the CPU before selecting the motherboard. Existing motherboards limit your choice of CPUs, forcing you to fit the CPU to the motherboard. If the performance of the computer is crucial to the successful completion of a task, then choosing the CPU first is especially important; for example, if you are working on a computer that will be used for high-end graphics, the CPU’s speed needs to be greater than that used in a computer for general business applications.

CIS 290 Innovative Education-- snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 5 Individual Assignment Appendices I and J For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com As a computer technician, you must be familiar with a wide range of Input/Output (I/O) devices, including keyboards, mice, monitors, biometric devices, projectors, cameras, and video or graphics cards. Before you can attach any of these to a computer system, you must first research which I/O devices and expansion cards are best suited for your computer’s configuration; for example, it is common to find more than one video or graphics card in high-end PCs, especially those that require more than one monitor.

CIS 290 Innovative Education-- snaptutorial.com CIS 290 Week 2 Individual Assignment Operating Systems Paper For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com Prepare a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following: Provide a brief history of three different operating systems. Explain factors that would lead to upgrading operating systems. Choose three main components of an operating system, and explain their functions in comparison to other software. Describe the differences between Windows® operating system versions.
