Early Amendments: Why we have a Bill of Rights Remember the debate between Federalists and Antifederalists? Let’s focus on the antifederalists Federalists Antifederalists supported the Constitution (strong nat’l gov) opposed the Constitution (b/c it made the nat’l gov too strong) did not think a bill of rights was necessary wanted a detailed list of individual liberties.
