BREAST ABSCESS PATHWAY
Initial Assessment In hours (urgent and non-urgent referrals) Mon-Friday 08: :00 For referrals please complete an e-referral and contact Thirlestaine Breast Care Centre (TBC) on Please ensure that the patient’s latest mobile number is in the e-referral We aim to see patients at the next available diagnostic clinic. You will be advised of the details for patient attendance when you make contact with TBC For any other enquiries please contact TBC on the above number Out of hours - Urgent referrals only Refer to general surgical registrar on call (GRH/CGH) If suitably trained, and if superficial abscess identified then aspirate/drain under local anaesthesia if possible Prescribe flucloxacillin (and metronidazole if non- puerperal).
