1. On-line maps show projects relate
Maps show plans for truck routes, parks, economic development and existing land use.
Example: Hunts Point, Bronx
Most important, is that mapping of projects from all agencies would enable elected officials and community leaders to see projects in relation to each other.
In this map, the red are transportation projects, the blue are economic development projects and the green are park projects.
If a user clicked on the green, he or she would see they are part of the proposed Bronx River Park and Greenway. If the user clicked onto the red line next to it, he or she would see it is the design for an expansion of a little used truck route, Edgewater Road, by the New York State Department of Transportation--who probably had no idea that it would conflict with a park that will attract hundreds of people to cross it to reach the waterfront.. The red lines on the west are new truck routes proposed by the NYC Economic Development Corporation.
