19 Proportions: Two fractions that are set up equal to each other
Proportions: Two fractions that are set up equal to each other. To solve for a missing part of a proportion, cross multiply, then solve the equation. Ratio: Comparing quantities: Can be written as a fraction, with the word to in between the numbers or with a : in between the numbers. Scale factor is what you multiply the pre-image (original figure) by in order to get the image (new figure). The scale factor of the perimeter squared IS the scale factor of the area of two figures.

20 Similar Figures: Corresponding angles have the same measurement AND corresponding sides are proportional. Unit Rate: A ratio with a denominator of one. (The cost of one notebook, etc)

21 Word Problems 1. Set up a proportion by labeling the numerators and the denominators. 2. Then place the numbers in the correct places BEING CAREFUL TO READ THE LABELS YOU CREATED. 3. Cross multiply. 4. Solve the equation.
