10 What is Desiccant Technology?
Silica-Gel Desiccant Packets What is Desiccant Technology? A desiccant is a substance that absorbs or adsorbs water. It is most commonly used to remove humidity that would normally degrade or even destroy products sensitive to moisture. Adsorbers (Collect moisture in their structure - like sponges) Silica Gel Molecular Sieves (Zeolites) Absorbers (collect moisture through chemical change) Lithium Chloride Silica-Gel Desiccant Wheel Munters took the Desiccant technology and incorporated it into the Humidity Control Unit in the form of a Desiccant Wheel. Simple Silica can hold 40% it’s weight in water

11 Standard Desiccant Dehumidifiers Patented HoneyCombe® Technology
Dehumidifier is based on Munters unique Honeycombe® sorption drying wheel Media removes moisture from process air Wheel rotates to reactivation section Heated reactivation air drives moisture away Reactivation energy form electric, gas or steam Performance is affected by ART – Airflow, Rotation and Temperature

12 PowerPurge Energy saving option for ICA's; allows up to 40% reduction in reactivation energy, and a 20% reduction in cooling. APPLICATIONS Standard option in ICA size 0750 and larger Retrofit for HCE’s

13 Desiccant Wheel Choices
Titanium Silica Gel - Durable & insoluble Lithium Chloride - broad application range Molecular Sieve - low dew points over wide temperature ranges HPX - High performance hybrid GTR – up to 100 grain depression Power Purge Enhancement

25 ICA Meets Industry Standards
Dehumidifiers, heating, cooling, filters, humidifiers, air blenders, fans, etc. Clean in place, ICA features triple sloped plenum drains and coil drain pans Access doors open against pressure Side or front load filters Panel deflection < 1/200th of unsupported span Compliant with UL 1995 and NFPA 90A Intermediate drain pans for coils over 48” high Drain pans extend 12” beyond coils Weatherproof construction with sloped roof The ICA represents Munters’ continuing effort to increase its market share for custom integrated systems. If an air handler requires a desiccant section, Munters presents the most complete systems integration package, and the ICA positions Munters to be the basis of design for the entire system, not just the desiccant wheel. Fighting history, Cargocaire is renowned for its dehumidifiers, but engineers still don’t think of Munters first when they need to design a custom “system.” The ICA challenges this preconception by incorporating, as standard, features that the industry requires.

26 ICA Key Features & Benefits Advanced Housing Design
Large, smooth fitting panels create fewer joints. Cam and lock prevents leakage at panel seams. 0.5% leakage guaranteed at design pressure. Options include textured aluminum, galvalume, or stainless steel Superior no-through-metal design. Thermal break even at floor / base joint. Insulation thickness of 2.5" and 4.0" The ICA is a superior product from the perspective of “fit, form, and finish” as it incorporate fewer joints, cleaner seams, clean-in-place design, etc. multiple materials of construction are available and they are interchangeable (aluminum exterior with stainless interior, galvalume inside and out, etc.). Superior Thermal break - Puerto Rico customers buy the “no thru metal” design of competitors only to find them sweating at the base skid! Increased insulation thickness whenever project has high ambient dewpoint (Puerto Rico, Singapore, etc.) or low interior temperature (cooling tunnels, food process freezers, etc.). Future possibility exists to “kit” the ICA, break it down for shipment, and re-assemble at the jobsite.

27 Wall to Wall Connection
Spline separates the inner and outer walls by ~3/4” creating the thermal break. For 4” panels the thermal break is 2-3/4”. A silicone bead is applied prior to installing the spline. Edges of spline dig into the foam insulation creating a tight seal After tightening the cam-lock another bead is applied to the panel seam.

29 Base / Floor / Wall Connection
Drawing shows 2.5” wall attaching to 4” floor. For 4” walls the thermal break distance is greater as required.

30 New Door design – Robust Design
Three Way Adjustable Hinge

31 New Door gasket design – Triple Seal

33 ICA Key Features & Benefits: Custom Options
Pipi9ng for steam, chilled water and refrigerant Pre-piped, mounted and wired condensing units Custom control packages, including VFDs, air flow stations, temperature and humidity controls Service corridors Turnkey systems Customization has always been a Munters strength. For quick turnovers, Munters frequently works with engineers and customers to provide a single point connection for utilities. Drop a complete system on the roof, connect utilities, power, ductwork, and turn on the switch. Service corridors include lighting, heating, etc.

34 Pharmaceutical Custom Project Requirements
Special Features Piping Corridors Zone Post-Heating Project Manager Turnkey Validation Documentation Pipe corridors - typically 6’ to enable servicability to valves, filters etc. Zone post heating - above unit had twelve zones feeding to individual pan coaters which needed individual temp. and humidity control. Recently been asked to more turn-key soup to nuts ie: assign project manager, design piping layout, furnish piping & controls customer plops on roof and hooks up power. Eliminates downtime at site during installation when manufacturer must bear responsibility of additional scope.

35 Turnkey Systems Custom piping Unique Specification compliance
Factory installed piping Fully tested Certified Labeling and testing accommodated Available through IDS and ICA product lines Chilled Water Piping Full Controls Common Supply and Return Headers
