4 China Tibet Conflict (Land and ethnicity)
The Republic of China (ROC) claimed that "Tibet was placed under the sovereignty of China" when the Qing dynasty (1644–1912) ended the brief Nepalese rule ( ). China claims majority as ethnic Chinese. The Tibetan Government in Exile claims that Tibet was an independent state until the PRC invaded Tibet in 1949/50. In 1950, the newly established Communist regime in China invaded Tibet, which was rich in natural resources and had a strategically important border with India. ... The 14th Dalai Lama was a teenager when his country was invaded and was never able to govern Tibet independently.
