Curriculum National Registry Web Site The National Center for Construction Education and Research or NCCER, was established by the construction industry to provide standardized education materials and to address the severe workforce shortage facing the industry. It is through our standardized training process of accreditation, standardized curriculum, national registry, instructor certification and image resources that NCCCER plays a key part of the industry's workforce develoment efforts.

It is critical that we start training the workforce today for tomorrow. According to a study conducted by management consultant group FMI, our projected supply will not meet our demand for a skilled workforce.

11 REGISTERED FORMAL TRAINING
WORKFORCE SHORTAGE REGISTERED FORMAL TRAINING Out of the total construction workforce, only about ten percent have had some type of formal training. The need to train the construction workforce is more critical than ever before.

12 INDUSTRY OVERVIEW NCCER was created to train and provide portable credentials to the workforce. In 1950, 60% of the workforce was unskilled. Today the exact opposite is true. Two-thirds of all jobs now require skilled workers. Only 20% require a college education. The amount of jobs requiring a college education hasn't changed in 55 years.

NCCER Standardized Training Process In 1995, NCCER was founded by the worlds' largest and most progressive contactors and national trade associations to address the workforce shortage need. What started with the development of five initial craft areas has evolved into more than 35 craft areas.

Research NCCER was created by the industry to focus on five main areas: to provide standardized curriculum with portable credentials; maintain a safe, productive workforce; provide a comprehensive career path from the craft professional to project manager; to provide career image resources and to provide research on the industry's training needs.

Standardized Construction Curricula Craft, Safety & Management Education Accreditation for the Organization Instructor Certification National Registry NCCER's standardized training process includes standardized curriculum, accreditation, instructor certification, and a national registry. These components are now recognized staples of the industry's workforce development efforts.

ACCREDITATION PROCESS Eligible Organizations Contractor Association Chapter Owner Government Agency Training Consultant For Profit School ACCREDITED TRAINING SPONSOR Working in partnership with industry and academia, NCCER has developed a system for program accreditation that is similar to those found in institutions of higher learning. To date, there are more than 500 NCCER Accredited Training Sponsors located world-wide. This accreditation process assures that students receive quality training and industry-recognized credentials through NCCER's National Registry. 24 hour ICTP for MTs Craft Instructors 24 hour ICTP As part of its accreditation process that ensures the uniform and consistent delivery of training. Through this process, NCCER certifies the Master Trainer. In turn the Master Trainer certifies teh local Craft/Technician Instructor. Craft Instructors are individuals certified to teach NCCER's Contren Learning Series. This network of certified craft instructors ensures that NCCER training programs will meet the standards of instruction set by the industry. Craft Professionals

Documentation of training and skills attainment The National Registry provides transcripts, certificates, and wallet cards to students when training is delivered by an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor. To date, NCCER's National Registry has delivered more than 2.8 million module completions. These valuable industry credentials benefit students as they seek employment and build their career.

Evaluates Journey-level Skills Pre/Post Employment Testing Meets Owner’s Demands Provides Industry Credentials Evaluates Professionalism Training Prescription Promotes Upgrade Training The NCACP evaluates journey-level knowledge and skills of experienced craftpeople. The core competencies are based on the Contren Learning Series. A training perscription is provided to all craftspeople assessed, and upon successful completion, credentials from the National Registry will be provided.

Standardized achievement tests based upon industry skill standards Developed in response to the nation’s need for industry-driven exams for career and technical education Ideal for high school pre- and post-testing The National Construction Career Tests (NCCT) is a series of career tests created for secondary career and technical education. These tests include both knowledge and skills demonstrations based upon the Contren curriculum, and integrate directly into post-secondary and apprenticeship programs.

The NCCER web site provides a wealth of up-to-date industry information. Customers can access the online catalog, purchase shirts or decals from the online store, download performance verifications, search for sponsors or assessment centers by state, search for construction careers or build and post resumes on the Monster/NCCER online career center.

NCCER offers a co-brand career site that includes up-to-date career information for the construction industry.
