1 Edgewood Partners Insurance Center – Prophix story
Operating since: Unknown Head office: San Francisco, California Annual revenue: > $150 million Number of employees: 300 G/L or ERP: Sagitta Company website: Company background: EPIC is a unique and innovative retail property & casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage and consulting firm. EPIC has created a values-based, client-focused culture that attracts and retains top talent, fosters employee satisfaction and loyalty and sustains a high level of customer service excellence. EPIC team members have consistently recognized their company as a “Best Place to Work” in multiple regions across California and as a “Best Place to Work in the Insurance Industry” nationally. The 8th largest broker based in the U.S. West, EPIC has more than 450 team members operating from nine offices across California (Los Angeles, Irvine, Inland Empire, Fresno, Folsom, San Francisco, San Mateo, Petaluma and San Ramon) and in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver and New York. Business problems that led to evaluating CPM, adopting Prophix: Financial model – EPIC's reporting system only allowed it to create canned reports which required heavy use of Excel (data-dumps, look-ups, etc.) in order to view comparative reports. EPIC needed a solution that would allow them to create customizable reports for analysis and financial statements without requiring intense manual effort in Excel. With the expanded growth of the company, EPIC needed a solution that would be flexible and capable of handling the new acquisitions.

Business problems (continued): Pro-forma- In order for EPIC to create its pro-Forma adjustments for new acquisitions, they had multiple worksheets with many moving parts that required extensive use of formulas in Excel. With only one person responsible for this piece and in addition to the error prone process, EPIC needed a unified solution that would simplify the process and allow additional users to take control if necessary. Their Prophix solution: Importing data for Balance Sheet and P&L from Sagitta through a linked server Financial reporting: Balance Sheet, Cashflow, P&L, Pro-Forma P&L Set up of pro-forma accounts using MDX to add actuals plus the adjustments from different member combinations Future plans (for phase 2, in early 2015): Personnel planning, which is currently a mess in Excel Additional pro forma reporting KPI reporting, potentially in SmartMonitor
