RAMA COMMUNAL PROPERTY ASSOCIATION
PRESENTATION TO THE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND LAND REFORM

2. PROGRESS SINCE COURT ORDER
The alleged RAMA CPA executive committee failed to comply with the court order.
They demanded all correspondence be through their legal representative.
Executive committee issued a notice of an AGM meeting letter on 7 October 2015 for a meeting on 10 October.
Notice rejected by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) due to the following:
It was not in compliance with the court order
It was in direct contravention with the Act.
Alleged RAMA CPA committee was informed through their legal representative.

3. PROGRESS SINCE COURT ORDER
DRDLR attempted to support the executive and the interim committee to participate in a pre-planning meeting as per court order.
Preparations failed because the executive committee was not cooperative.
DRDLR continued sending correspondence to known legal representative through the state attorneys office
Executive committee appointed new legal representative and did not communicate this
Security Services advised that the meeting should be held at a neutral venue.

4. PROGRESS SINCE COURT ORDER
Arrangements made with South African Police Service (SAPS) and Security Services to support DRDLR
Posters were printed and posted in and around Garankuwa and Madidi
Advertisements in newspapers was secured and local community radio stations approached for free slots to publicize the meeting
Two officials receiving death threats
Allegations of intimidations and kidnapping reported
Nominations meeting scheduled for 19 March 2016
Security is heightened and SAPS is on board to support DRDLR.
