2 What is it? A framework in Agile Management
Agile- short developments called sprints that focus on continuous improvement in the development in the product. Scrum- provides a lightweight process framework that embraces iterative and incremental practices.

3 What is “Iterative” Webster: repetition
PM: A process for arriving at a decision or a desired result by repeating rounds of analysis or a cycle of operations. The objective is to bring the desired decision or result closer to discovery with each repetition

4 Back to Scrum One of the most implemented agile frameworks.
Originally created for software, but it works well for any complex, innovative scope of work. Prioritize the work that matters most and breaks it down into manageable chunks. When the project ends, it ensures that the most valuable work has been completed first.

5 Where’s it from? First used by Hirotaka Takeuchi and Ikujiro Nonaka in their ground-breaking 1986 paper “The New New Product Development Game“. Takeuchi and Nonaka compare high-performing, cross- functional teams to the scrum formation used by Rugby teams. Jeff Sutherland created the scrum process in 1993, he borrowed the term "scrum" from the analogy put forth by Takeuchi and Nonaka. Outstanding performance is achieved when teams are small and self-organizing units of people and are fed with objectives, not with executable tasks. Teams can only achieve greatness when given room to devise their own tactics to best head towards the shared objectives.

7 Scrum Team Product Owner, Development Team, and Scrum Master
Scrum teams are self-organizing and cross-functional. Optimizing flexibility, creativity, and productivity. “Scrum Teams deliver products iteratively and incrementally, maximizing opportunities for feedback. Incremental deliveries of “Done” product ensure a potentially useful version of working product is always available.”

8 Product Owner Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Development Team Managing the Product Backlog Clearly expressing Product Backlog items; Optimizing the value of the work the Development Team performs; Ensuring that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all

9 The Development Team Professionals who do the work of delivering a potentially releasable Increment of “Done” product at the end of each Sprint. Made up by 5-9 people Having following characteristics: structured and empowered by the organization to organize and manage their own work. self-organizing. cross-functional

10 Scrum Master VERY important role in the scrum team. To Product owner,
find technique for effective product backlog management, Ensuring the product owner knows how to arrange the product backlog to maximize value facilitating scrum events as requested or needs. To development team, coach the development team in self-organization and cross-functionality help the team to create high-value products. To the organization, help employees and stakeholders understand and enact scrum and empirical product development. work with other scrum masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

12 The Power of Scrum Across the Project Management Industry
Scrum has the power to transform project management across every industry, every business, and even across life in general. Using scrum team members become more Agile, discovering how to react more quickly and respond more accurately to the inevitable changes that come your way Every team member understands how important they are, as each separate task that someone completes is an important place of a MUCH larger puzzle.

13 Scrum Brings out Simple Fun
Having the ability to use scrum brings people together... (generally something that can be hard to do in the workplace) Provides an environment that aligns team spirit to grow and build a stronger team. The short sprint cycles pulls constant presure on a team..which may sound negative however, this pressure helps get things done. If the team handles this pressure correctly then the result is the ressure is in range that makes the team very effective without any “Burn outs” I

15 Anyone can benefit from SCRUM!
Solid and successful agile framework that’s been applied to a variety of projects and teams: Universities use Scrum to deliver valued projects to clients Militaries have relied on Scrum to prepare ships for deployment. In the automotive world, Team Wikispeed is using Scrum to build a fast, affordable, ultra-efficient, safe commuter car that should sell for less than $20,000.

16 Schools using SCRUM The student teams and teachers used retrospectives to evaluate the learning processes, and improve the way that Scrum can be used for teaching. (Blueprint High School, Chandler, Arizona) Results: Improved quality of education Higher grades Motivated students. infoq.com/articles

17 Can PM’s adapt SCRUM aspects to other project types?
Shifting from traditional project management approaches to Scrum project management requires an adjustment in the activities that are carried out, the artifacts that are created and the roles within the project team It was designed to stay as a nimbler process that can pivot whenever that is called for A Guide to the Scrum Body of Knowledge (SBOK™ Guide) provides guidelines for the successful implementation of Scrum— In all types of projects across all industries
