Oracle Universal Installer (OUI)
Upgrade to A9.4 A9.4 Quick Installation Guide - Installing Your Software Restores the software libraries to a library named JDEINSTAL2 Restores the Planner environment Restores JDEORACLE library, which has DEFAULT settings for security Requires Two Different Users: IBM user profile with SECOFR and FTP authority A New User for the A9.4 Security Administrator (IBM user only with *SECOFR authority, used to sign on and complete Phases Three through Five) Do not use JDE, JDEPROD or JDEINSTAL. Do not create a JDE user profile for this user. The upgrade process will create the JDE user profile and JOBD, and will attach the user profile to the JDEPROD library list. Customers upgrading from A9.3 need to set up a new Security Administrator User ID for A9.4 Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted

Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase One
GOTCHA! If not coded to 55-59, custom menus will be removed Upgrade to A9.4 “Upgrade Process Overview” A9.4 Upgrade Guide/A9.4 Upgrade Checklist Test Environment is used for all five phases Section – Monitor Changes to JD Edwards World Control Files Dual Maintenance, Control Changes, Track Changes Section 1.2 – Pre-Upgrade Application and Technical Instructions Sign on to production to address Integrity Reports (ensure all critical files are in balance), Custom Menus (if menu starts with G, must be coded to systems 55 – 59), EnterpriseOne (OneWorld) Files (A7.3 customers must delete them before creating alternate environment to avoid file conversion issues Dual Maintenance (or “Control File Changes Monitored”) means after you obtain a copy of your production control files for the test environment, any changes made in the production environment control files will also be made in the test environment and/or you do not allow changes to the production control files. Track Changes = Make note of all the changes made to production control files or use Database Audit Manager (DBAM) to track changes made to control files. Why this is important: You will manually perform Application Specific Instructions (ASIs) in Phase Three, which pertain to AAI, UDC, DD, DW, SVR, VO, WW, FASTR, Special Instructions, etc. All customers will perform the ASIs for A9.4, but if you are upgrading from a release prior to A9.3 (say A7.3 or A8.1), you will also perform ASIs for releases in between such as A91, A9.2, A92PC00001, A9.3 and A93PC00001. And depending on your production release level, the number of ASIs can/will be numerous. For example, the ASI Report for customers upgrading from A7.3 to A9.2 lists 138 instructions (note – this list is for all system codes). IF YOU PERFORM DUAL MAINTENANCE (or monitor your control file changes), you will be able to save time by utilizing our CPYF instructions when you perform a mock go-live and/or your go-live. Control files which can be copied include AAIs, Menu, DD, DW, UDC, SVR, VO and WW. Most of my customers monitor AAIs, Menus, DD, UDCs, SVR and VO. They usually opt to not monitor DW or WW. The Next Number file (F0002) cannot be copied. Special Instructions must always be performed during the mock go-live and go-live. If you use System 12 (Fixed Assets) or system 83 (FASTR) and if you will be copying DW files, you must copy the respective system 12 and 83 files also. In regards to the Pre-Upgrade Application and Technical Instructions - - these are just a few. Please follow the upgrade guide and checklist. Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two
Upgrade to A9.4 “Planning and Upgrading the Alternate Environment” JDEORACLE Object Type Authority Knowledge document (WS: INST: SEC: FAQ: JDEORACLE Library Frequently Asked Questions) A9.4 software is delivered in a locked down state Library JDEORACLE is restored during the OUI process, and contains DEFAULT objects for each object type delivered in the software The authority for the DEFAULT objects is *PUBLIC *EXCLUDE so before starting the upgrade, the Security Administrator must set the appropriate authority for each DEFAULT object Q1: What is the purpose of the JDEORACLE library? A1: A9.4 software is delivered in a locked down state; object authority is *PUBLIC *EXCLUDE for the DEFAULT object types listed in the JDEORACLE library that is delivered in the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI). When objects with any of the object types listed in JDEORACLE are created in the libraries noted in the A9.4 Upgrade Plan, they will have the object authority that is set for DEFAULT in the JDEORACLE library. For that reason, this step must be done prior to the upgrade. There are other steps which haven’t changed with A9.4 such as: DDM files cannot exist in the data libraries you restore for the upgrade - - a DDM file will stop all file conversions IBM Journaling must be turned off on any files in restored libraries A7.3 payroll clients must check Sys 07 UDC tables as some need to be deleted Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
13
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Upgrade to A9.4 GOTCHA! JDF,OBJ and SRC type libraries must be empty Restore full back up copy of production libraries: Types COM, SEC, DTA (additional DTA for payroll) Sign on as JDEINSTAL and create the test upgrade plan Restored copies of COM, DTA and SEC libraries from production Empty JDF, OBJ and SRC libraries Do not included populated JD Edwards object, source or JDFDATA libraries as the upgrade will install new object, source and JDFDATA libraries. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
14
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Screen 1 of 3 – Libraries for this plan When creating your test upgrade plan, please inquire on ZJDE_ALT and then add a new plan (e.g. A94TST) Do not begin your plan name with ZJDE Do not begin your plan name with a number Do not begin or use any special characters except underscore Do not use a name for a plan that already exists Your plan name cannot exceed nine characters The libraries for this plan screen allows you to specify your current and new JD Edwards World release levels, whether you want to install object and data only, or source only, and the libraries which define one complete environment. If you have payroll in a separate data library, it must be included as a second DTA type in the plan. It is recommended that you install source. For the Production LSF Library field, enter the name of your production object library which contains the F99LSF file. The information from the F99LSF is copied to the new A9.4 object library during the upgrade process. If you are performing the upgrade on a new iSeries (e.g. different serial number), you can copy just the F99LSF and F99LSFLA to an otherwise empty JDFOBJ library to use for the upgrade. There is no need to restore a full copy of your production JDFOBJ library to the new iSeries. Remember: The JDF, OBJ and SRC libraries will be empty, and the COM, DTA and SEC libraries will be populated with copies of your production data. NOTE: If you are upgrading multiple environments which share JDFOBJ at a minimum, please open a new service request so a World Tech engineer can assist you. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
15
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Screen 2 of 3 – Merge Information Specify modes in which you want the merges to run * Specify library locations of the control files If the library locations are not correct, blank out the library name field and press ENTER - - your libraries will be searched and the correct locations will be retrieved. Errors 3142 or 3704 generated if library names are incorrect * NOTE: JD Edwards recommends you NOT change the merge modes The Merge Information screen allows you to specify modes in which you want the merges to run and the library locations of the control files. JD Edwards recommends you do NOT change the merge modes. If the library locations are not correct, blank out the library name fields and press ENTER - - your libraries will be searched and the correct locations will be retrieved. Errors 3142 or 3704 will be generated in the Upgrade Planner Validation Report if the incorrect library name is identified on this screen. Just change the library accordingly and validate the plan again. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
16
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Screen 3 of 3 – Data Dictionary Field Ownership Allows you to indicate fields in the Data Dictionary you want to automatically update with the Data Dictionary merge, which runs during the upgrade process These are fields customers may have chosen to modify for their business needs A “J” in any field indicates the upgrade overrides the value from the JDF type library in the plan A “C” in any field indicates the upgrade does not replace the value NOTE: If you change any value to “C”, you will use the Data Dictionary Workbench to view and reconcile differences for these fields. If you do not have many custom Data Dictionary items, we suggest you enter ‘J’ in all fields and later re-enter your customer DD changes. The DD merge produces reports and the DD Workbench allows you to view the before and after value for all of the fields on the DD Field Ownership screen. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
17
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Upgrade to A9.4 Print Upgrade Validation Report Enter your plan name Enter 0 if you are upgrading Enter 1 to check for duplicates Enter *REINSTALL for the Upgrade Type The report will submit to batch and you will receive a message if one or more errors occurred. R96004YR identifies any errors R97281 identifies any duplicates R96004 prints the values you filled in on the DD field Ownership screen The Upgrade Planner Validation Report not only includes the libraries and merge information you included in the plan, but also any errors which were generated. The goal is to see “Total Errors = 000” Duplicate files cannot exist in the same environment, so all duplicate files must be addressed before submitting the upgrade. You want to see, “NO DUPLICATE FILES FOUND” on R97281. Please attach these three reports to your first World Tech service request if any issues or questions arise. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
18
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Upgrade to A9.4 Start the Upgrade Enter Upgrade Type = *REINSTALL Enter Upgrade Plan Name – e.g. A94TST Enter Source Media = *SAVF Enter Current JDE Release Level – e.g. A73, A81, A91, A92 or A93 Enter New JDE Release Level = A94 Enter Run Validator Program value = 1 (default) Restore SQL *SAVF = 0 (enter “1” if you use IBM’s Adopted Authority) Hold on job Queue = 0 (default) Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
19
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Upgrade to A9.4 GOTCHA! UPG_STEP2 will halt if trigger programs are attached to files in the data libraries Track the Progress of the Upgrade Three parts: UPG_STEP1 restores the software from the save files in the JDEINSTAL2 library and sends a message when system 00 is restored. All systems are included in system 00. J97910 will update the objects in the JDF, OBJ and SRC type libraries in the upgrade plan based on the DEFAULT security and ownership values set up for each object type in the JDEORACLE library UPG_STEP2 submits merges and converts files. These jobs run in the JDEINSTAL subsystem in separate job queues. After UPG_STEP2 completes, the upgrade process rebuilds the field reference files (FRFs) and the JD Edwards World message file (J98FRFGEN) Check for JDE9999 in both UPG_STEP1 and UPG_STEP2 joblogs! If you find any JDE9999 errors in the joblogs, please attach the joblog(s) to a new World Tech service request. GOTCHA! JDE9999 errors are “show stoppers” and must be addressed promptly! Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
20
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Two continued
Upgrade to A9.4 Inquire on File Conversion Status After UPG_STEP2 completes, check the file conversion status for all client data libraries. CA = Completed Abnormally - - attach screen prints of the entire list and joblogs for physical files; single-file conversions must be run in a specific order CN = Completed Normally - - should be several screens full CAs will need to be addressed before continuing to Phase Three. A common reason why a physical file appears on the CA list is that it is empty. Empty files do not convert, so your support engineer will ask you to perform a CRTDUPOBJ from the pristine A9.4 JDFDTA library. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
21
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Three
Upgrade to A9.4 Gotcha! Processing Option 1 MUST have a value of ‘1’ each time report is run “Create New Files and Update Control Files” Sign on with the Security Administrator User ID The JDEPROD library list = “JDE World A9.4 Production” Create New Files Run the Menu Comparison Report Very important to run twice! First time with processing option 1 = 1 and processing option 2 = blank (to obtain a report) Second time with processing option 1 = 1 and processing option 2 = 1 (to replace G menus) During the upgrade process, the JDEPROD library list is set up with the libraries from the upgrade plan. The description is JDE World A9.4 Production. CREATE NEW FILES: If you perform this upgrade in stages, you’ll need to confirm the JDEINSTAL monitor is active before attempting to create new files. (G97R42/3 to start the monitor) You’ll run Build New Files List and Create New Files until the New Files List is empty or files fail to create. (G97R4) The World Tech engineer will need to see any joblogs of files that fail to create. MENU COMPARISON REPORT: During the upgrade (as a part of the merge), new menus were added, new menu selections were added, obsolete selections were removed from menus, and selections were changed on menus if there was a replacement program for an obsolete program. The Menu Comparison Report not only gives you an opportunity to compare what changed from production to A9.4, but also allows you to make changes to menus in your A9.4 test environment. Specific changes will include: Manually adding menu masking and any custom changes made to the G menus, as these will be lost. Re-entering your custom Hidden Selections to the ZHIDDEN menus (and subsequently confirming any custom CLs called from ZHIDDEN menus are in your A9.4 library list (e.g. JDFOBJ94 or your custom object library)) Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
22
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Three continued
Upgrade to A9.4 Phase Three also includes updating User Defined Code (UDC) files, Automatic Accounting Instruction (AAI) files and Data Dictionary (DD) files “Create/Print ASI Report/Apply ASIs/DREAM Writer Workbench” – Section 3.10 Prior to running any Application Specific Instructions (ASIs), run the Technical Special Job G97U74/12 (Create/Change P record for DW). This changes the version owner to DEMO. Create and print the applicable ASI reports from menu G97R4, options 4 & 5 For example, if upgrading from A7.3 or A8.1, create and print the ASI reports for A91, A92, A92PC00001, A93, A93PC00001 and A94. A reminder regarding the ASIs: You will now gain a better understanding of the benefits of performing dual maintenance (control file changes monitored) after reviewing the content/volume of these reports. Please note: The A9.4 Test Environment Checklist includes ASI Clarifications and Corrections. Confidential – Oracle Internal/Restricted/Highly Restricted
23
Test Environment (Phases 1 – 5) – Phase Three continued
Upgrade to A9.4 The DREAM Writer Review Workbench allows you to review changes the DREAM Writer merge made to many of your versions. Some require a mandatory review, and others will need to be reviewed as they are used (e.g. changes to processing options, data selection and data sequencing). An asterisk (*) in the Review Type field identifies the Form IDs you must review at this time. If you want to list all Form IDs that require your review, enter a blank in the Review Type field. An enhancement as of A9.3 includes the version the DREAM Writer was copied from, the User ID that copied the version, and the date it was copied. If asked, DW Workbench is accessed via menu G97R4. The Big Picture – Understand World Migration to EnterpriseOne The Main Steps
Install JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 iSeries and JD Edwards World Environment Preparation World Migration Preparation World Application Conversions World Technical Conversions EnterpriseOne 9.2 Conversions Turn off JD Edwards World Let’s talk about the big picture, the direct migration process. It begins by installing EnterpriseOne 9.2. This installation has no impact on the World production environment. Using migration tools developed with the World toolset, the E1 toolset and E1 CNC (configurable network computing) technology. The business data is migrated to empty E1 tables. After testing in E1, the migration process is repeated (several times) until go-live at which time only E1 is used; World is turned off – archived and removed from the machine. Get ready, get set… Review the Direct Migration Guide, Document ID Dedicate the Proper Resources to work on the Migration In house resources Consider the use of an experienced Business Partner Verify Hardware and Software Certifications (formally known as Minimum Technical Requirements) See Document ID JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 9.1.x and newer Certification (MTR) data is now available in the Certify Application on My Oracle Support [Video] See Document ID Certifications FAQ for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Disk Space Analyze data/Archive and Purge Try to minimize the data set you need to convert Get prepared! First and foremost, due to the complexity, it is recommended that only properly trained individuals perform the migration process. A trained consultant is considered to be knowledgeable and proficient in system sizing activities, Configurable Network Computing (CNC) and table conversions. The consultant should have skill sets with: Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne installation process Oracle’s JD Edwards World installation process IBM I experience The supported direct migration process is from IBM iSeries to IBM iSeries, minimum release i7.1. Certain minimum hardware and software requirements must also be met to run JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Release 9.2, with required compilers, and, with various databases and application (Middleware) servers. You will find all information regarding hardware and software certified for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2 in My Oracle Support, the Certifications tab. Disk Space: The required amount is disk space is double the size of the Business and Common data library plus what is listed in Certifications for E1 9.2. Analyze your data for archiving and purging; minimize the data set you need to convert. Oracle has partnered with DCSoftware to provide a tool to assist you in determining the need to archive and purge prior to your migration. A report provides visibility into the volume of data in your World environment by displaying the: - Libraries and file size - Major transaction file(s) record counts by year - And, the F0911 record counts by batch type Clean data = a smooth upgrade.
